IAF strikes Beruit airport

Posted on 07/12/2006 8:38:16 PM PDT by jhp

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3274810,00.html

Reports coming in about IAF striking Beruit airport, if this is confirmed this is another sizable escalation. I think this article ought to be pinned.

I don't believe it's a coincidence either. They know if they talk on phone lines, others can hear. Maybe it was face to face planning.

Can't see Egypt getting involved, short of Mubarak being taken out by his own before hand.

What killed is that I had a guarranteed free seat on Saudi Airlines, but a week before I was to leave, they said they couldn't guarantee a seat. And, I couldn't get stuck in Saudi as I had no visa (or interest to stay there), so I bailed out, and flew Egypt Air to Cairo instead.

Same flight a few months before they put the plane in the drink, but I had a 777 instead. No alcohol served for 11 hour flight, but all the passengers had bottles and passed them around!

I really want to see Lebanon, Jordan, Oman and Israel.

"A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force." - urban dictionary

The Israeli ARE following the road map to peace. The road to peace -- lies over the bodies of militant Islamists --- LOTS of them. There will be on peace with these bastards until after they have been bled white. If the world hasn't learned this yet -- they haven't been paying attention, or they are cowards.

Bingo.

The former, "haven't been paying attention", could probably be detailed further by stating the cause is excessive self involvement, but in the end it doesn't matter why they haven't paid attention. Only that they haven't. IMO, cowardice is the root cause of the majority anyway.

Diplomacy has its time and place. This isn't the time nor the place. You don't hold bi-lateral talks with stone cold murderers, butchers, anarachists, terrorists...people that live solely to butcher Christians, eradicate Jews, and enslave the rest of the world.

You destroy them. And any not killed, shouldn't be granted trust or leniacy. Elsewise they'll use it to destroy us.

I hope Israel shows them no mercy and does what the rest of the world doesn't have the guts to do. And I'll be saying prayers for them in the days to come.

"If Iran attacks Israel, dollars to doughnuts NK will blitskrieg SK and force us to choose who to help. Maybe China will go for the trifecta and launch a naval invasion of Taiwan...

Damn, Windcatcher, that's a scenario from hell."

Israel will nuke Iran--that war will be over in one hour...NK will not have time to react....I don't think NK is as tough as is being talked about: when was the last time they went to war??????

China would need 5 million soldiers to invade Taiwan and would lose half those; our navy fleet in the area would stop China cold...

Plus China would not have time to react if Iran is nuked....in addition, China fights by proxy and with very weak opponents....

Relax...OK?

Doesn't anyone know how to fight a war anymore?

I mean everything is empty.

Where are Patton and Sherman when you need them.

The purpose of the military is to kill people and break things. Right?

Is this preperatory to the IDF taking over the airport?

I don't think anyone (except terrorists perhaps) wants an all out war right now. Perhaps Israel is just dealing a few stings to put pressure on. But then, who knows.

I went been in Beirut 3 times in the early 1970's. You cannot believe what a beautiful city it was before it went to hell.

It's a major escalation alright. I don't know if egypt is prepared or not to defend syria against Israel, knowing how we would react.

You are right, Israel is once again attacking empty (albeit more symbolically important) targets. Now if Hizbullah were to get squirrley and fire some of their arsenal into Hafia (the Kaytushas can't make it that far, but some of their other missles allegedly can), then the gloves would really come off, as in strafing runs over the Bekka valley and Damascus

3 or 4 runway busters put the airport out of commission.

Economic collateral.
