Well you are right but the real dilemma for US is that if this indeed is the beginning of the "big one" in the Middle East then we would have to change our entire attitude in Iraq from ally to probable enemy. Iraq as presently constituted would never accept our presence if we were to give military support in any conflict that involves Israel. I would be mad as hell if we placed Iraq before Israel in an armed conflict and I don't believe we would.

Very good points. Perhaps Jordon will be the key, since Iraq has no contact with Israeli border. If Jordon and the Saudis enter the War, we are in the thick of it and our ground forces within Iraq would be surrounded. Only exit path, Persian Gulf with enemies on both sides.

Bush needs to drop the G8 visit and address this issue fully. Over 100,000 American service personal could eventually be surrounded as early as tomorrow.
