Iran warns Israel of “unimaginable losses” if Syria attacked

Iran warned its arch-enemy Israel Sunday of “unimaginable losses” if it attacks Syria adding that the Islamic republic was “standing by the Syrian people”.

“We hope the Zionist regime does not make the mistake of attacking Syria, because extending the front would definitely make the Zionist regime face unimaginable losses,” foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

“Iran is standing by the Syrian people,” he added.

“We have offered and will offer Syria and Lebanon spiritual and humanitarian support,” Asefi said, reiterating Iran’s denial that it is providing military and financial assistance to the Hezbollah movement.

He also hit out at the United States after President George W. Bush said Israel had “every right to defend itself”.

“The United States has had a destructive role by vetoing resolutions and hence encouraging the Israeli crimes,” Asefi said, referring to Washington’s use of its veto in the UN Security Council Thursday to block a resolution calling for a halt to an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

“The United States should reconsider its policies and correct its wrong attitude of supporting the Zionist regime.”

If Iran wants to be carpet bombed...so be it. Iran is messing with something way bigger than it can handle.

Iran warns Israel of “unimaginable losses” if Syria attacked.

Correction:

Iran sets itself up for unimaginable losses as it foolishly contemplates attacking Israel.

Bring it on suckers!

Iran has already attacked Israel and not just through words. Its official policy is to wipe Israel off the map. No one in Israel gives a damn what Iran says about them. There's an expression in Hebrew, "yehye tov" - "it will be alright." Israelis are using to being condemned by the world and they shrug their shoulders and go about their business. What other choice do they have? Iran can take its threats and stuff them where the sun don't shine.

First Syria. Logistically, Syria is a cake walk. Israel can't still take care of Iran's Nucs, if need be, with it's own Nucs, before they become operational.

Put yourself in an Israeli's shoes. Your family is already under rocket attack. If the Iranians, Syrians, or other Arabs, via proxy or via direct attack, decide to move on Israel, and Israel loses, how many Jews will be spared? How much of Israel's "infrastructure" will be lost? Will the Europeans or Lebanese wail at Israel's distress?

If the Arabs win, 70% to 80% of all Israel's will die. Perhaps the rest will evacuate successfully.

The point is that this is an "all or nothing" fight for Israel. Her enemies leave her no choice. Europe and the U.N. leave her no choice. So, if that's a given, what should Israel do with Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and Gaza? Should she sacrafice blood and treasure, and then withdraw under agreements that the Arabs and Persions will honor no more than any of the rest? Will Israel trade land for ... for what? It won't be peace or safety.

Will Israel take on the western liberal task of "nation buildling" for the Lebanese and Syrians, trying to build a democracy for people who would put every man, woman and child in Israel to the sword?

What should Israel do with the Lebanese and Syrians? How thoroughly unthinkable it would be for Israel to adopt the ancient practices of the victors, practices which modern Islam has revived. What would Israel be if as a country, she treated the Lebanese, Palastinians, and Syrians in the exact way that they would treat Israelis, and push every last man, woman and child into the sea, or as refugees to other countries?

But Israel will not do that, because it's not a Muslim country. However, that weakness may be their eventual undoing. Israel needs to retake the lands they conquered, toss the Arabs out, and establish defensible borders. How can the borders they now have be considered "defensible" when they are being bombarded by Iranian rockets daily?

the rhetoric of iran and it's leader needs to be shut down permanently and immediately...they are annoying and are making too many stupid demands on the world...too many losses both financially and others are occurring due to their holding up the world on oil pricing and the insane islamofasious killing of non muslims must stop. No way in hell they get the bomb!

That is worrisome. Iran has Chemical and Biological WMD. If Hizbollah got top line conventional Iranian arms, there is a possibility that they also got some unconventional ones. If they use one of those, time to get the suits out boys.

Bomb'em back into the 4th century where they belong and absolutely knock-off all silly talk of 'rebuilding' - from anybody. Like darned near everyone else, I'm sick and tired of the Iranian's.

We've put-up with their BS far too long as is.

I pray to GOD she does. I pray to God she has the will. I pray to God that Bush and Blair find the will again to help Israel finish the deal once and for all. Now is the time to bite the bullet on Iran and the middle east...or we shall forever regret it. It is never going to be easier to deal with the whole islamic terrorist mess than now!!!

She better because all the surprises have been on the Muzzie side

Worst case scenario-- This escalates over the next 30 days to where the end game becomes us bombing to sh!t Iran's nuclear facilities. I promise you that ultimate scenario is being war gamed intensely by American military and Israeli military

Iran warns Israel of “unimaginable losses” if Syria attacked.

Wouldn't it something if President Bush warned Iran of "unimaginable destruction" if they don't stop the reckless behavior?

A careful reading of this statement makes it clear Iran is not prepared to take the step, in other words afraid, to publicly state it will render military assistance to Syria in the event of a conflict with Israel.

I have no doubt that this would be on the "menu". A chemical attack on Israel killing thousands would be the go ahead for the kitchen sink to be thrown at Syria and Iran.

I don't think Iran parses its words the way the USA, China or Russia does.

I think Iran is a reckless outlaw regime that is on the verge of joining the 4th century.

Oh yes.

And that unfortunately would be the best end game for us going into the future. It is now or forever living in the constant fear of Iran and what if...what if...and the constant erosion of American might and western non islamic countries and customs. Bring it on now with the least potential negative impact for the world's future!
