Wrong. The whole point is to neutralize Hezbullah (and Hamas) because they have been used by Iran to distract from their nuclear program. Once they are put down like the rabid dogs that they are, then extreme focus will be on Iran.

There have been some reports that Iran has had trouble with its centrifuges. They are trying to buy more time. They don't have much time left. Note they have not only not responded to the EU's proposition, they have sent their negotiating team to Syria to help the Hezbullah with its tactics. Their job will be finished soon and back to Iran they will go.

Short of turning South lebanon into a lunar landsape, Israel has zero chance of neutralizing Hezbollah. Hurting it, yes, but neutralizing it, no. Think of trying to remove the roaches from a NYC tenement. What will happen is the attention of the UN and Europe will focus on the dead civilians. The Hezbollah fighters will become heroic martyrs. Israel will be again condemned and Iran will fade into the background of the world's attention.

Remember, while we know the reality, to the world Iran hasn't killed anyone, while Israel has inflicted considerable collateral damage. Israel will be forced to accept an int'l peacekeeping force on its northern border. Hezbollah's remnants will be able to rebuild in safety and Iran will get what it needs from Putin.
