Fight Continues for Stem Cell Research (Patches Kennedy upset over Bush veto)

WARWICK, R.I. --U.S. Reps. Patrick Kennedy and James Langevin criticized President Bush on Friday for vetoing a bill that would have eased restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, saying Bush had dashed the hopes of millions of Americans who suffer from diseases and chronic illnesses.

The two Rhode Island Democrats vowed at a joint news conference to continue fighting for stem cell research, which supporters say could ultimately produce cures and therapy for spinal cord injuries and debilitating diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Bush used the first veto of his presidency on Wednesday to reject legislation on embryonic stem cell research that was passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives. Bush said the bill crossed a "moral boundary" and that it was wrong to destroy an embryo in the name of medical research. The House later failed to override the veto.

Who knows...maybe stem cell research can find a cure for the liberal weasel trait of breaking the law and then running to the Mayo Clinic for a quick "cure"? That this loser is still in office proves that the Democrats in MA are beyond ridicule.

I think what the President needs to do is to better explain the differences between Neo-Natal blood cord, Embryonic, and Adult bone marrow stem cell research. When he and the GOP thoroughly explain the promises of Neo-natal blood cord and Adult bone marrow stem cell research, and the lack of promise in Embryonic stem cell research, he will win this debate.

They already have the ability to use adult stem cells. Matter of fact they do it for heart disease in other countries, but the US does not want to open it up as of yet...because the Dems do not want to cure people, they like them dependent on them!
