Charlie Crist Let My Daughter Die

by Robert Schindler, Sr. Posted Jul 31, 2006

As most Americans know, on March 31, 2005, my daughter, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of starvation and thirst after having her feeding tube removed by court order. The sad chain of events that concluded with Terri’s death ignited a media firestorm nationally and internationally. What few saw or heard was the callous inaction of aspiring governor Charlie Crist.

Florida Atty. Gen. Charlie Crist let my daughter die. He had it within his authority to save her life, but he turned a blind eye to her suffering. Even worse, he worked to ensure her death.

Terri lived in a neurologically compromised state for reasons that are still unknown, and my family wanted nothing more than permission to care for Terri for the span of her natural life. We were denied.

My daughter tenaciously fought for her life for more than 13 days after being deprived of the most basic, natural and constant need that we all share—the need for nourishment—food and water. Terri was not on a respirator, nor terminally ill. She was not dying, nor succumbing to a dreadful disease. She was disabled. She was dependent on others, but still very much a life, a woman, and a person.

Over the course of several years, our family, our lawyers, and our friends pleaded for help from local, county, and state police and regulatory agencies with constitutional and statutory authority to investigate the many sworn statements of extreme abuse and neglect suffered by our daughter.

Hoping to save my daughter’s life, our family sought the help of Attorney General Charlie Crist. Not only did Charlie Crist refuse our family lawful access to the assets of his office, but he violated his oath of office by actively cooperated with those in positions of political and judicial authority whom denied us legal access to the police and regulatory systems meant to protect the weak. Multiple sworn agents from responsible police and regulatory agencies who found probable cause to investigate allegations of abuse in Terri's judicial and physical care, were ordered to shut down those probes. This heavy-handedness made us powerless.

Information of direct interest to Attorney General Charlie Crist's office was directly delivered to his personal hands, and he refused to properly execute the duties of his office. And it was with deliberate decision that he failed to attend a scheduled Tallahassee meeting with our family. On another occasion, we approached each other by chance. Upon recognizing me, Charlie Crist abruptly stopped and walked away.

That callous action encapsulates Charlie Crist. He walked away from a man whose daughter’s fate he controlled. At that moment, he turned his back on Terri. And he turned his back on the most fundamental duties of his office.

It is quite clear that Charlie Crist, to this day, has demonstrated no public affection for the cause of life, or Christianity, or any set of core values. He has been posturing to become governor for decades. With each voting audience he has crafted a message based on the expediency of the moment.

To add insult to injury, at a recent banquet, our alleged pro-life candidate for the Governor of Florida said the following about Judge George Greer and other judges involved in the death of my daughter, "You are heroes to all of us, and your defense of the judiciary and what is right is beyond admirable."

Through his actions, Charlie Crist has demonstrated that he has no regard for our most vulnerable citizens, the high duties of public office, or life itself. Charlie Crist’s celebration of the merciless judges who condemned Terri to death speaks to his true character.

Candidate for Governor Charlie Crist has a partnership with Stetson Law School which happens to be Jay Wolfson's alma mater. (Crist went to Cumberland instead. I don't know if he was too stupid to get into Stetson Law School).

By the way, Jan Govan who ran against Judge Greer in 2004 was in the top ten of his class at Stetson Law School. Govan's one of those supersmart people but he has a compassionate side too. If he runs again, I will definitely vote for him.

***Sometimes, the voters pick a loser like Greer who's not too bright and everyone pays. He murdered Terri and he's killing the GOP now. (and he did cheat in the 2004 campaign multiple times. He's not even a valid judge but he steals money from wards and bumps them off.

And, this is fine with Tallahassee? Of course it is. They need to get rid of the frauds up there. There are too many cozy relationships that hurt real Floridians.

AUGUST 11, 2006: TOM GALLAGHER NOTES FROM THE TRAIL:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all of your hard work this week. It was another great week on the trail.

I would like to start this week’s Notes from the Trail by addressing our nation’s security. As you all are well aware, this week our nation received news that officials from the United Kingdom joined with US officials and stopped a terrorist plot against our nation and arrested more than 20 suspected terrorists. This event is a stark reminder that even though we are safer now than we were pre-9/11, we are still not completely safe. That is why we must continue to call on the federal government to secure our borders and enforce the law.

On Monday, in Fort Lauderdale, I had the opportunity to address an Insurance and Tax Forum. At the event, I explained my comprehensive strategies to provide insurance and tax relief for Florida’s families. Less taxes and less regulation will grow our economy and today, thanks to Republican stewardship, Florida has one of the strongest economies in the nation. We must maintain our commitment to less taxes and less regulation and keep our economy expanding for the future.

On Wednesday, I was in the Villages where I spoke about the need for our next Governor to follow the path laid out by Jeb Bush, and stay committed to the values of the Republican Party.

Yesterday, I officially kicked off the final 25 days of this campaign. With less than a month to go before the primary election, it’s time to re-focus on choosing the candidate who’s best qualified to represent the Republican Party.

I have great respect for my opponent, but over the course of the last year, it has become very clear that we have very different ideas about what’s best for the Republican Party and for our state. Our differences are meaningful, and they are consequential.

For the next 25 days of this campaign, I intend to talk about four critical issues that separate us: taxes, immigration, insurance and family values. Over the next month I am going to convince the voters that I’m the best person to lead our party. I’m going to stick to the issues, and I urge my opponent to do the same. This race should not be about the candidates’ personal lives. It should not result in mud-slinging and our paid messages need to remain positive. Doing otherwise will only help the Democrats in November.

This race all comes down to this: my opponent wants to take the party in a new direction, away from the conservative course set by Jeb Bush. I want our party to remain conservative in every sense of the word. That’s a fight that I can and will win.

Thanks again for another great week. With only 25 days left of the campaign, things are really starting to heat up at the grassroots level. Many of you have been involved in President Bush’s and Governor Jeb Bush’s campaigns. As you know, campaigns are won at the grassroots level, and the campaign with the best team in place will win. This one is no different. This primary race is important because we need someone with the vision and integrity to lead our great state like Governor Bush has over the last 8 years.

Well, I've wondered if some of that 300,000 that Felos got
from Terri's malpractice suit didn't end up in the judge's
pocket....I've also wondered if Felos had something on him, maybe with pictures and everything.
He could have given Terri a different guardian and could
given her case to another judge and refused to do so.
Wasn't he moved to probate court and took her case with
him when he was moved?

He had an agenda and I hope at some point he has to answer
for his role in her death.

I think we should rule out "got something on you" deals. Greer tormented Terri with too much enthusiasm of his own. I can't believe he was pushed into it. Neither can I make any case that he was bribed, despite his taking contributions from Felos and Bushnell.

Slim pickings for us. Oh, well, we just have to keep hunting.

No protection...none. Greer promised that Teri would die, and he made sure that he kept that promise. Mike the " is the bitch dead yet" monster must have held a deep and corrupted secret love for Greer since this vile so called judge offered abusive Mike legal cover as he went about making money off of Terri's plight even as he worked for her death.

Teri's death parted these two scumbags.

My guess, these two scumbags will meet again, in hell.

Whether or not Greer had other motivations, he passed a point years ago where any recovery by Terri would have been very bad for him. Once he passed that point, there was no way he could make impartial decisions.

TALLAHASSEE -- Republican Tom Gallagher is betting his political life on an appeal to Christian and social conservatives. And at least one of his supporters in those groups say their own future is at stake in Gallagher's quest to be governor. Gallagher has earned the endorsement of Florida Right to Life, as well as vocal support of most social conservative leaders in the state. His goal: Win the hearts of Republicans most likely to get out and vote Sept. 5.

His method: Staunch stances like increased restrictions on abortions and a strict ban on gay adoptions and gay civil unions.

Clear choice???

MIAMI - Democrat Skip Campbell and Republican Bill McCollum have a few things in common: both are lawyers, both are University of Florida alumni and both went into politics. Beyond that, they couldn't be much more different, offering voters a clear choice for Florida's next attorney general.

Snip

_Campbell said flatly Gov. Jeb Bush was wrong to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case, while McCollum said he supported the governor's decision "to protect a life." McCollum also says now that he would have stopped efforts to keep the brain-damaged woman's feeding tube connected once the courts ruled that it must be removed.

Yeah, I noted what you did, that whatever triggered this, it was early. But I also sense malice in him toward Terri. He isn't just doing his legal duty or covering his butt. He likes putting her down. It's some kind of fulfillment or satisfaction or triumph for him. It's like he's winning a bet against his entire fraternity house.

That said, I suspect you are closest to the truth that there is some legal error or finagling involved that had to be covered by Terri's death. The same for Michael when he petitioned to have her immediately cremated -- which Greer approved. That is senseless unless it was an effort to cover up bodily evidence.

The far left machine still refers to Terri and Senator Lieberman's interest in seeing an innocent live as unacceptable to the new and "improved" democrat party.

And there was more. Lieberman's decision to stand up on the Senate floor in 1998 to denounce President Clinton's behavior during l'affaire Monica. His wanting Congress to interfere in the Terri Schiavo situation. Whatever you thought of those positions, they certainly didn't represent the majority opinion in the Democratic Party. So the anger was there even before anyone ever heard of Ned Lamont.

Looks like the Texas Futile Caregivers are looking at extending the ten days now given.

AUSTIN (AP) — Opponents of the state’s “futile care” law urged lawmakers to give patients’ families more time to find another health care facility when doctors decide life-sustaining treatment is useless.

At a Wednesday hearing, the Texas House Committee on Public Health sought opinions on whether 10 days is enough time to arrange for a patient’s transfer when a hospital deems a case medically futile.

‘Futile care’ debate focuses on deadline for moving patients

"He likes putting her down"

Yes, he did seem to enjoy the control he had over this case.

Felos seemed very aware of the way the case would be handled from beginning to end..once he got Judge Greer.

Media Matters...

...................

Summary: On Fox News' Special Report, Fred Barnes misrepresented Sen. Joseph Lieberman's position on legislation that allowed the federal government to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case. Barnes claimed that Lieberman said only that "he would have allowed her to keep ... the feeding tube in." But on Meet the Press in 2005, Lieberman couched the issue in terms of what the law required, not what he would personally do if put in a situation similar to Schiavo's family: Congress' involvement in the case "was justified" because "as a matter of law, if you go -- particularly to the 14th Amendment, [a person] can't be denied due process, have your life or liberty taken without due process of law."

On Special Report, Barnes misstated Lieberman's views on Terri Schiavo case

Terri's death did not part these two scumbags (Greer and Schiavo). After Terri's murder, they appeared together at least twice at bioethics seminars at the University of Pennsyvania, to promote involuntary euthanasia.

I suppose it's too much to ask, that they put the decision into other hands than committees of self-designated "bioethicists"? Committee decisions are notorious already, but in this case the decision will be up to the euthanazi majority. Moreover, as part of the hospital, the "bioethicists" always have a built-in interest in getting rid the patient in order to save costs for the hospital.

In this conflict, there is no way the patient will get a disinterested decision.
