I believe we are faced with the equivalent of the Spanish Civil War of the mid to late Thirties. Our proxy (Israel) is fighting Iran's proxy (Hezbollah) just as Stalin's proxies were fighting Hitler's in Spain. It is a test not just of military might and tactics, but of will. No one intervened to save the Spanish Republicans, so why should Hitler think they would lift a finger to save Poland? Iran is testing us, and if we seek "peace in our time" with Hezbollah, Iran wins. If we crush Hezbollah, maybe World War III or IV starts in 2006 rather than 2010 (when Iran will surely have nuclear capabilities). Either way, we have to fight Iran.
Do we want to fight a nuclear Iran or a nonnuclear one? Right now the Chamberlains are winning out over the Churchills.

We're past the Spanish Civil War... we're in the 'Phony War' stages of WW2.
