The problem with this is the fact that Hezbullah still stands. If the US were involved or if this had any pre-planning in Israel there would not have been so much hesitation by Israeli politicians.
Hezbollah is still limping along, but their capabilities have been severely damaged.
It will take time to disarm them because Israel's strategy is for a comprehensive, durable settlement, using military, diplomatic and political means. I think it has a decent chance for success, but time will tell.
Israel is winning the military conflict - but Hezbollah is winning the propaganda war. No matter how badly Hezbollah is beaten, Nasrallah will say they've defeated Israel, and many people are willing to believe him.
