UN Israel Lebanon Ceasefire Broken By Hezbollah
By Joel Leyden
Israel News Agency
Tel Aviv----August 14...... Just 4 hours after a UN brokered Israel Lebanon ceasefire was to take affect, the terror organization Hezbollah attacked an IDF force in south Lebanon.
"A group of armed Hezbollah terrorists approached an IDF force in the south Lebanon village of Hadatha," an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson told the Israel News Agency.
"The IDF force took defensive positions, requested that they lay their arms down, fired warning shots and then fired at the approaching Hezbollah terrorists. The firefight occurs over a short period of time. No IDF injuries were reported."
In accepting UN Resolution 1701 for which both the Lebanon and Israel governments accepted, Israel maintained the right to defend herself. As such, the 40,000 IDF troops now operating on the Lebanon Israel border will continue to "neutralize" all areas between the Israel border and the Litani river of Hezbollah terrorists.
Hezbollah has refused to lay their weapons down. This has created a schism between Hezbollah and the Lebanon government which is waiting to deploy their army and open humanitarian aid to south Lebanon.
Since the Hezbollah - Israel war began on July 12, Hezbollah has fired more than 4,000 Iran made rockets into Israel. Over 45 Israel civilians, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, have died as a result of these cross-border terror attacks, and more than 1,800 have been wounded. More than 81 Israel soldiers have been killed in rocket attacks and in combat defending the Jewish nation.
The IDF has instructed its troops to uphold the ceasefire, but military officials remain uncertain as to whether or not quiet will in fact prevail in Lebanon and along the northern border. Defense Minister Amir Peretz said while touring the Northern Command Sunday that If it turns out that the elements involved in the ceasefire agreement will breach it, the IDF soldiers will not be restrained. We will not accept a situation in which soldiers are hurt and we do not respond; we will retaliate with all means necessary. The commanders and soldiers on the battlefield must know that they contributed to the formulation of the diplomatic document (UN Resolution) that is aimed at guaranteeing peace in the north for years to come. There was never an agreement more favorable to Israel, the defense minister said.
A tense Mayor of northern Israel, Shlomo Buhbut was briefed by Minister of Infrastructure Binyamin Ben Eliezer who had come to assess damage. Buhbut was a Labor Knesset Member during the Oslo years, between 1992-1996. Today he tells Ben Eliezer to go back to Jerusalem and tell Prime Minister Olmert that the Forum of Mayors of Northern Cities demands that there be no cessation of the campaign to rid the area of Hezbollah.
"We need to eradicate them. They're an obstacle to peace," Buhbut asserts. Ben Eliezer responds with fighting words. "We're not going to let Nasrallah play games with us any more. If anyone will dare touch our people on this side of the border we'll destroy them, and they'll be responsible. There's no moderation," the minister asserts. "Nasrallah thinks he can control the life of people in the Middle East. No more." Ben Eliezer tells us that there's interaction between Hezbollah and every terrorist group in the world, and leaves no doubt that he has little hope of anything positive coming from the idea of leaving the Lebanese Army in control of southern Lebanon. "They're under the control of Hezbollah. They're Hezbollah in uniform," he concludes.
ISRAEL NEWS AGENCY
That's the case with every cease-fire and peace plan imposed on the Israelis from the outside. Who brokers those deals? Which nations vote to impose them on the Israelis?
What a huge effin' surprise!
A second breach of the ceasefire by Hezbollah was reported hours later as IDF soldiers spotted an armed man near the village of Faroun in the central sector and opened fire.
Semantics. No need to redefine the English language, RusIvan.
I prefer "Muslim Mass Murderers", myself.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
A MUCH better solution IMHO.
In the twisted minds of the UN potentates... one mans terrorist... is another mans freedom-fighter.
Actually, the US Army is working on developing a number of non-lethal (but extremely painful) methods similar to what you're describing. In one case, they have a device which shoots a highly focused radio beam at a subject from a distance of a mile or so. The victim of the beam gets the first layer of his epidermis (skin for those of you in Rio Linda) burned off. Another one uses sound waves to basically explode the victim's ear drums. I say get these bad boys into production, and let the IDF be the beta testers - with the Hezbos the guinea pigs...
I know, this is a serious moment but it needs a little humor.
It is supposed to be Lebabon that goes in and disarms the the Hezzies with the help of UN troops. IMO, this agreement was designed that if it worked it would be great for Israel and if it failed (more likely) it would be great for Israel
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
Well, that didn't take long, did it? Now maybe Israel can finish the job it started.
they are reporting everywhere that ISRAEL broke the ceasefire, of course. I heard it on the DC local news this morning. Sara Lee of ABC said 'and Israel claims it was in self defense'
little twit
"If he can't do it , he'd better step aside so a guy that can look after business takes over."
No if anymore. The Israeli people should utilize this lull in the fighting to elect a new government.
That wasn't a ceasefire that's what you call reloading.
Olmert: "OK, Hezbollah, if you break the truce one more time, we will shake our finger at you...and right in your face, too...we are not kidding around!"
Congrats! Funniest post of the day. Taze them...lmao!
Don't honor Hezbollah by calling them 'guerillas.'
They are evil, despicable, cowardly terrorists. Nothing more.
Just saw your post. GMTA. :)
