I was just thinking about how I liked Mr. Ford and Debbie Reynolds in "The Gazebo." I was a kid when I saw it and I thought it was a little scary. I haven't seen it since. Of course now, I'd especially like to see it again.

She was trained nurse.

During 1966 visit to my unit in RVN she assisted wounded. When Doc arrived an asked if she was sterile, she replied "at my age you better believe it".

I do not recall the Marine Corps serving in Europe during WW II. (Yes, I am that old.) But I'm willing to have somebody

He was probably OSS , and more than likely part of a Jedburgh team. Truly joint, fantastically brave people were in these small teams who advised and lead resistance organizations throughout Europe. Their fate , if captured ,was both gruesome and fatal.

Thanks for the post. I really like watching Glenn Ford in the movies, and as a retired military member, I'm glad he served. I look forward to meeting him in the resurrection.

And as a general question to those that read my post... how do I get in contact with those who would use some of my outlines for commercials or movies?

Glenn Ford sent out letters in the last few years asking for donations for, I believe, Young Americans for Freedom, or some other college based association that supports education of patriotic values in our youth.

One of my favorite Glenn Ford movies is Cowboy with Jack Lemmon. Not to be confused with The Cowboys with John Wayne.

"It's difficult to believe that Hollywood was once full of patriots."

Yes it is. Times surely do change.

I always liked Glenn Ford. This article gives me so many more reasons not only to like him, but to respect him. Wow!

God bless Glenn Ford and all in his family.

He served with the 'Coasties,' the 'Jarheads' and the 'Squids.' That sounds like a well rounded individual.

As a former Squid myself, I am proud that he chose to cap his service with the US Navy.

But, in truth all Americans should join in a well deserved send-off for Captain Glenn Ford not to mention he was excellent in "Follow the Sun" the Ben Hogan story.

You deserve a BZ. FYI 'BZ' or Bravo Zulu is Navy code for "well done!"

My Mom told me and I heard that actor from
Gone with the Wind.
Lesley Howard ..(Ashley), was shot down in his plane
in World War 2 on a mission and killed.

What ever happened to Sean Flynn , son of Errol FLynn
in Vietnam, I believe he was a reporter and just
disappearred there. He was reporting on what our vets
were doing. Maybe he knew too much?

My husband recently read the book that told about the espionage activities during WWII - I think the title is "A Man Called Intrepid" - and the author said that they knew ahead of time that Leslie Howard's plane was going to be shot down but couldn't do anything about it because it would have destroyed an important source of information behind enemy lines. He was talking about some of the very painful and difficult decisions that had to be made at times.

Wow, I can't believe this isn't more widely known.

He saved several thousand people, I wonder now how many people are alive because of him - probably a few hundred thousand.

Another story I posted on FR a while back is similar, and only became known in the 1980's. I can't find my FR post but here is a link to the article:

We sent for the documentary DVD mentioned at the end, very well done and comes with a study guide even. Everyone in this country should see it.

The Telegraph got it right.

The Tele has him with the Resistance, not (NewsMax version) the French Foreign Legion which is forbidden by French law to serve in France.

I know it really is, I can hardly stand movies now days.
When I go to video store, I just wander around aimlessly wondering what am I doing wasting my time when there is no quality to be had in this sewer of entertainment
