“More likely then not, you will not be voting in the General Election”

This argument no longer works. Fred Thompson now leads nationally against Rudy:

He will certainly have longer coattails than Rudy.

Out them and oust them wherever you find them.

They are useful idiots for the Left.

If you don't like the RINOs in your district, then the Primaries are the time to get rid of them.

Really? Someone should have told GW Bush and Santorum that Toomey was a much better primary candidate than Snarlin Arlen Specter in 2004......

When the RINO's show their true colors they should be recalled by their districts. And I suppose that the same applies to a conservative president who hugs liberal lawmakers and wants to give the farm away.......

Two years ago we started an organization called Primary Challenge here in Erie County NY. I was the first named candidate to run a primary against the entrenched 26 year legislator. With in a month he decided to retire. I then stayed in the race and the “Party” ran a candidate against me, I lost the primary by 138 votes.

We ran 8 candidates and only won 2 seats but boy did we wake some people up, mainly the Republican party. Out of the 9 legislators we targeted, 8 decided not to run again almost all Democrats. This year 3 Primary Challenge candidates have the endorsement of the Republicans.

The County Chairman was forced to retire, his assistant was terminated, new local chairs are in place and we are looked at as the real reformers in county government races this year. Problem is R’s have been so disgusted with the Party over these years they have no money for the races this year.

See what we did was take all new comers, D’s and R’s and ran primaries against incumbents under the Primary Challenge banner. We are making a difference and it can be done on a National Level but we would need an organization as big as Free Republic to do it.

If we don’t wake these entrenched Washington politicians up we will lose this country as we are close to doing now. They have sold us out over self serving greed and corruption. The Time is Now!

ErieGeno - You need to read The MAYOR's Post 306. That is a great success story.

And with the RNC short of donations this year, it would be a very good time to run a conservative against the incumbent RINOs. The RNC won't have the money to spread around.

Mayor - Your story is inspirational for this thread. Thanks. I'll be referring to it often.

Nice job!!!! money is the key. We need to develop alternate sources. I love this idea. Can we use the name “Primary Challenge”?

I would have to ask the founder of the organization, I am the co-founder. We are still up and running, this year we have a hand full of candidates running locally.

http://primarychallenge.org is the website but this years slate of candidates are not entered yet.

To do this we would need a National spokesman, 50 state coordinators, candidates for Senate, Congress and President running under that banner.

To be effective we would need to run Repubs and Dems in the primary against the incumbents. Since you run against incumbents that would dictate the Party. Example, Bush is a registered Republican so we endorse the same.

There is time to put this together but what we need is the above and candidates. Like I said to do this it would have to be a massive effort with FR’s membership and readers.

Jim Robinson would have to give his OK before it went any further.

By running both Party candidates we spur the interest of everyone that leans Conservative, that would bring in all the Reagan dems.

‘A Republican Rino is still better than a Rat. It gives the Republicans majority status. With that status, we control committees and keep the Rats from starting multitudes of witch-hunting investigations and impeachment procedures. Nothing may get done with or without the RINOs, but its better than having the Rats in control. ‘

Sorry, but I won’t vote for a party, the Ohio GOP, that is CORRUPT. Period. As was clearly the case last fall. I won’t even address the overt racism displayed by the GOP in the primaries against Ken Blackwell by the despicable Jim Petro, with Taft’s support btw....

A GOP majority refused to secure the border, remember? They tried to build a bridge to nowhere that would have cost tens of millions of dollars, remember? They claimed in 2005 ‘there is nothing left to cut from the budget’ that included 31,000 plus EARMARKS.

Moving forward, we find Denny Hastert insisting Congresscritters are in fact ‘above the law’ in defense of the scumbag William Jefferson - a Democrat - remember?

Blindly voting EITHER PARTY produces Tom Foley’s, remember? Or Olympia Snow, remember? Or Lindsey Graham, John Voinovich, idiot savant McCain, the kook Ron Paul...its a very long list we all know here at FR.

Those that want to insist that the only time you can ‘fire’ a Republican is in the Primaries should remember neither the Dems nor the Republicans are the ‘majority’ and as such neither can win an election cycle without those of us that vote our principals, not ‘our party’ especially when it forgets why it was elected in the FIRST PLACE.

The GOP in the wake of the 2004 election cycle became exceedingly arrogant, from the President that won’t listen to those of us that elected and reelected him, to the despicable Senators not listening specifically about border security and Amnesty. The House GOP is only marginally better.

We got the government we DID NOT DESERVE in the wake of the 2004 election cycle, courtesy of the Republican Party, remember?

As we see, the GOP Whitehouse isn’t doing as the vast majority want on a host of issues, the GOP Senate is in the same frame of mind, and the House is barely able to recall who hired them in the first place.

The insistence ‘vote party first in general elections’ is Ridiculous given the quality, and performance, that mindset has produced here in the year 2007, in short.

Sorry, I won’t vote for those with Fred Barnes mindset that the ‘inside the beltway knows better’ than the entire voting population, as the polls demonstrate on the single biggest issue facing us domestically, the Amensty abomination.

This is a regurgitation of Sean Hannity’s final wails from August to November of last year. It didn’t work then, and it won’t work next year if the GOP insists on allowing insane spending, protecting corrupt officials from both parties, doesn’t secure the border, and keeps trying to force the Amnesty bill down our collective throats.

(rant off)

The difference between last November and now is that the conservatives really do have their dander up.

They are not donating to the RNC, hence they'll have less money to keep incumbent RINOs in office.

The Mayor showed that conservatives can be elected. See his Post 306 in this thread. But it took time. Time is not in our favor for the '08 Primaries, but with the RNC having less money to throw around, we have a good shot. And if we don't succeed, we'll have laid the ground work for the the '10 Primaries.

We just have to get off our a$$ and work for it instead of bitching in the general election and sitting home.

I still think a do nothing RINO is better than an active cut-'n-run lib. A corrupt RINO is bad, so join your State's Republic Committee and speak up.

Didn't you hear? Because of over population, you can bag and tag as many RINOs (in the Primary) as you can.

It is called a no limit Primary.

I agree with you most of the time.

Once in a great while a RINO comes along who is so stinking that voting against him or her in November may be justified.

There have been several FReepers who have pointed this out about several RINOs. I agree.

But one would hope in this new climate of conservative rebellion that they can be knocked out in the up coming Primaries.

"Why aren't you saying to the RINOs - "We'll get you elected but you've got to promise to support x, y and z conservative issues"? That might allow conservatives to vote for RINOs while holding their collective noses. Instead you take a "screw you" approach and try to brow beat conservatives into submission."
Exactly right.

This is another one of those kool-aid drinking, compromise everything, no principled GOP rants against Conservatives.

They constantly want to blame everyone except their own political party for losing elections.

They are still stuck on stupid after losing the 2006 elections and will continue to alienate the people that put them into office in the first place. They use the same mindless rant in an attempt convince everyone to sacrifice any principals they may hold dear to put them back into office.

As they will see once again in 2008, it will not work.
