New poll says most Canadians blame U.S. for 9/11 attacks

A majority of Canadians believe U.S. foreign policy was one of the root causes that led to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and Quebecers are quicker to criticize the U.S. administration for its international actions than other Canadians, a recent poll suggests.

Those conclusions are found in a newly released poll conducted by Léger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies.

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.

Canadian opinions have hardened against the United States and its role on the world stage, said Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association for Canadian Studies. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to a change of heart among people, he said.

Peter Jennings was a Canadian...probably had an IQ of at least 85.

Also see: "Please accept my apology to the Canadian people for perpetuating the error; one I am sure that has been very painful to them," said Gingrich and, further, he "deeply regrets" what has become a "widespread inaccuracy."

"Peter Jennings was a Canadian...probably had an IQ of at least 85."

Psss't ... don't look now but CNN's John Roberts - one-time Toronto disk jockey "JD Roberts" - is seemingly Jennings pretty-boy lefty replacement & might actually be dumber.

If they are referring to policies under the Clinton administration, i.e. ineffectual or no response to earlier terrorist attacks, unwillingness to kill or capture the perpetrators, sustenance of islamic terror movements in the Balkans, etc. then they have a point.

It's doubtful, however, that this is what their "opinion" is based on. Instead, they are probably referring to all the myriad provocations that the Bush adminstration managed to pull off between Jan. 20 and September 10, 2001. I guess they think Bin Laden must really hate tax cuts.

I suspect he was thinking of the "Millennium bomber" that was caught (in 1999) at Port Angeles, Wash.

I've never backed off, and I never said "all". I said I, and many others despise Canadians. As per the thread, if you can read, there are many, many other who agree.

You Canuck Conservatives are doing better, but still, you don't seem to have our back. I just read about a Canadian ambulance driver, who had to "rescue" a wounded Afgan terrorist in the middle of a firefight, then LEFT THE BATTLE to bring him to a hospital, rather than stay to take care of Canadian troops. Not like our liberals wouldn't want it the same way, but then again most Canadians would consider John McCain to be a right wing extremist.

Do a little research on this organization, the questions asked, in what context, who was polled and how many were polled.

Poll...http://www.acs-aec.ca/CurrentEvent/La%20Cause%20des%20attaques-Part2.pdf

I've put out a query about this fellow Jack Jedwab to one of our Jewish members.
Waiting for a response
What I've been able to find on the net shows him as...
presently Executive Director of the Association for Canadian Studies.
From 1994-1998 he served as Executive Director of the Quebec Region of the Canadian Jewish Congress.

This poll is pure antiwar propaganda. It is like any other politically motivated poll...you get the results you want.

Wake up, both the US and Canada have forces on both sides of the whole issue of terrorism, security, military force etc.

Now as for your comment "cowards"...there are Canadians dying in Afghanistan fighting the same war US forces are fighting.

When you hear some moonbat from LA LA land or NYC say the same thing OR the recent US polls that claim to prove that many US citizens believe the same thing. Do you call all Americans "cowards." Know your enemies but also know your friends. We are fighting the same moonbats here in Canada as you are fighting in the US.

In a word, yes. POLLS - they should be outlawed. Their media presents a negative picture of the U.S. and it's policies that lead to our being attacked for weeks or months, and then they take a poll to see what the mood of the citizens are. What hogwash.

Most Canadian would think John McCain has something to do with French Fries.

Right in the middle of the 9/11/01 crisis, Peter Puke Jennings was on the air criticizing President Bush for remaining aloft in Air Force One instead of returning "immediately" to the White House. The ignorance and arrogance of Peter Jennings was astounding, but actually typical of the media rabble.

If they created a poll done in the US, there would still be 40-50% saying that the US is to blame...

Leger is a longtime Liberal hack. The other group seems to be very left-leaning as well.

Understand the CBC is a political organization not just a taxpayer funded media empire. Their politics are in tune with CBS and CNN and yes they are very anti American. But even more anti Canadian Conservative. They are part of the same forces that want to bow down to Islamic terrorists while crippling our military. This does not start or stop at the border...there are plenty of cowards on both sides of our border. BUT also plenty who are willing to lay down their lives to win this war against both Islamic terrorists and the left who is just as dangerous to our future.
