New poll says most Canadians blame U.S. for 9/11 attacks

A majority of Canadians believe U.S. foreign policy was one of the root causes that led to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and Quebecers are quicker to criticize the U.S. administration for its international actions than other Canadians, a recent poll suggests.

Those conclusions are found in a newly released poll conducted by Léger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies.

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.

Canadian opinions have hardened against the United States and its role on the world stage, said Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association for Canadian Studies. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to a change of heart among people, he said.

And I give a rats butt about what canadians think of the USA b/c why? Oh, yeah, that's right - I DON'T. Esp french canadians. If there are canadians (french or not) that do like us - well good & thanks- but even if NONE of them did - it wouldn't make me sad one little bit.

Arpege92 & fanfan, canadians probably won't blame themselves....they'll blame the USA instead.

Mr. Keys, I put the blame where it REALLY BELONGS ... on the TERRORISTS.

fanfan, Just b/c you had 24 die in the towers does NOT mean you were "attacked" they just happened to be there when the terrorists decided to attack the USA b/c I somehow doubt they went "Humm, I hope there are canadians in them towers...". And FYI (1) Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, Carter "forgave" the deserters from VN. (2) canada won't LET us "take back" all the current ones.

MikeA, canada just now made your list? It's long been on mine.

free_life, Yes, there are USA citizens that I disagree w/ and SOME are cowards & I'll call them as such when appropriate but regardless of them existing that doesn't make me like the canadians that are "trash talking" the USA.

Heartofsong83, And those that would say such would be just as idiotic as the canadians in this poll that said that.

Side note 1: If it were up to me, I would sever ALL diplomatic relations w/ canada until they return EVERY USA AWOL/Deserter/traitor that they know to be up there.

Side note 2: I've only read pgs 1 & 3 of this thread so sorry if I repeated something already said.

Side note 3: Someone once said something like the following...I think it was Patton but I may be wrong on the name:
I'd rather have the french marching behind us, not in front b/c I don't want to get run-over when they retreat.

CommonSense1stOverParty - I don't like Canadians that trash talk the US either...nor do I like Americans that trash talk Canada just because we also have moonbats up here.

I am both Canadian and American BTW, But more importantly I am Christian and then Conservative. I know who I fight against and it's forces.

I would like to think not. I see this as the MSM attempting to cut our President off at the knees. Undermining his recent speeches and ones in the future.

"I never said "all"

Nice try newbie.
It's plain you have made numerous desparaging posts with respect to 'ALL' Canadians.

As examples:
"And Canadians wonder why we despise them almost as much as the French." - post #7 here

"Like I said, many of us despise the Canadians almost as much as the French. But French Canadians? How can you help but peg the despise O meter at Canadians that WISH they were French? As cowardly and sniveling as the French are, the wanna be frogs really have to stoop low to catch the attention of their heroes." - post #11 here

"I am not the only guy in the US to be sick of our northern "friends"." - post #47 here

Your inquiry should be directed to our leftist MSM, the liberals and the NDP.

Well, when the MSM & the NDP are polled, I will do so.

Unfortunately the media in Canada is so left winged biased it makes the lame stream media in the US look like it is conservative. Canadians are for the most part friendly to the US but have been jaded by CBC, the Toronto Red Star and the US media without anything to counter the bias that they get polluted with that they don't know any better. Canadians don't like President Bush but love Bill Clinton. It is said that the closest neighbor and what should be a close supportive ally is being lied to by the Canadian media. Canadians would be more conservative if better informed. Unfortunately now most believe what they read in the Star or hear on the CBC.

SO in your quotes of me, that you worked so hard to get, I don't see the word "all". I may be new to this board, but that doesn't change the fact that you are incapable of intelligent conversation, backing up you points, dealing with other peoples points, or simple reading comprehension.

Obviously the Canadian education system is as bad as ours, even though you don't have nearly as many urban minorities dragging it down.

PS If your self esteem is based on longevity on an internet forum, you have my pity.

Screw you Quebec.

You're French and Canadian, which mean you're both boring and obnoxious.

Take note Quebec and Ontario the lefts stronghold on the nation of Canada.

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.

free_life, Note that I said earlier: "If there are canadians (french or not) that do like us - well good & thanks- but even if NONE of them did - it wouldn't make me sad one little bit."

I said that to differentiate btwn those canadians I do & do not like. Now "on the whole" right now I don't like canada, however, I reserve the right to make individual decisions per canadian citizen. Also note my tag line in the earlier post, it said "That just gives me another reason not to like canada" NOTICE I didn't say canadians I said the country as a general term. It's like "on the whole" I don't like france, russia, germany, belgium etc but I reserve the right to like INDIVIDUALS from said countries regardless of if I like the country as a whole.

Now poll after poll (from both sides of the political aisle) continue to show that the majority of canadians complain about the USA & blame us for 9/11 (trash talk) & the %'s are even higher among french canadians. Yes, a lot of USA citizens complain about canada but usually the complaints we lodge against it are (1) About them complaining about the USA or (2) In direct response/rebuttal to their criticisms of the USA.

BTW, maybe you should remind THOSE canadians that blame the USA for 9/11 what you said earlier about us being on the "same side" in the WOT b/c apparently more canadians forget that than do USA citizens.

BTW2, The USA does NOT recognize "duel-citizenship". So in the eyes of the USA you are either a canadian citizen or a USA one...so which is it? I don't believe in "duel-citizenship" either b/c IMHO countries are like spouses - you can & should only be loyal to one. Now, it isn't likely the USA & canada will ever go to war vs ea other BUT if they did I certainly wouldn't want anybody that had previously tried to claim "duel-citizenship" fighting in our military b/c I couldn't be sure where their loyalties were.

I would expect this of the liberal element, wherever they might be. Instead of facing the cold hard facts, the liberals prefer to hide behind some cruel rationalization that gives them feelings of moral superiority. They like to think that nobody would ever want to harm them. The fact that radical Islam wants to do just that is beyond them. They lack the education to see that many of the accusations directed against the US are fabrications designed to satisfy a political agenda. I have even seen these fabricators cite the downfall of the Whitlam government in Australia in 1975 as the work of the CIA. Nothing could have been further from the truth. However, the liberals persist in accepting the word of the ill-educated Michael Moore and Ward Churchill.

Their time will come. People think by blaming America and being pro-Islamic they will prevent terror attacks.

Interesting comment.
Correct if I'm wrong...
What you are saying is that your urban minorities are dragging down your education system,
rather than your education system dragging down your urban minorities.

Tell me if I am under a false impression. Two leading propagandists who created the illusion that US foreign policy was responsible for 9/11 were Michael Moore and Ward Churchill. Both are US citizens.

I just read about a Canadian ambulance driver, who had to "rescue" a wounded Afgan terrorist in the middle of a firefight, then LEFT THE BATTLE to bring him to a hospital, rather than stay to take care of Canadian troops.

Do you have a link for that? I haven't heard about it.

The islamic fascists are rapidly causing skeptics to see the light. Every attack somebody says, 'Hmm, might have been wrong about that.'

Blame the USA for what?
There is no other country in the world that I'd rather have as my neighbour.

Of course not, but we had hard working, contributing members of society working with yours, and they were killed by Islamofacists just like your people.

(2) canada won't LET us "take back" all the current ones.

Maybe we could get Stephen Harper to pull their citizenship?

BTW, the words Canada and Canadian / Canadians is spelled with a Capital C.

Of course it was foreign policy failures!

US foreign policy since 1979 fueled the radical movement. Jimmuh Carter launched it, and Clinton, Burglar and Halfbreight provided the cover to bin Laden.
