Many Jews from Europe were Socialists. However, they were also true socialists that didn't consider power, but real socialism.
They were corrupted by money, like most socialists in power.
Jews vote dem for several reasons. One, because they mainly live in New York, LA, and Florida Jewish enclaves and they never meet a Republican. Second, they experienced discrimination and Dems claim the heritage of the civil Rights movement.
Soros doesn't like his Jewish heritage very much. When that Malaysian guy said Jews rule the world by proxy, Soros agreed with him. Soros is something of a kook who has the money to play his messianic games. I mean, here's a guy that lived througn Nazism and later Communism and he now says Capitalism and America are the enemies? That this poor thinker takes over the Democratic party is not good news.
As to the second part of your question, I guess the Left in Europe back in the 19th century was friendlier than the right and the Jews gravitated to it. The predominantly Jewish Menshevik party was Socialist, too, though not as bloodthirsty as the more native, Russian Bolsheviks. Also, Roosevelt appointed a lot of Jews in his administration (his program was sarcastically called the Jew deal) amd a lot of Jews feel grateful because of that. It should be added that they really shouldn't because of Roosevelt's foot dragging in rescuing the doomed Jews of Europe and the fact that if Roosevelt had lived, Israel would've never come into existence. The younger Jews and the Orthodox Jews are voting more for Pres. Bush and the Republicans, but the older ones remain Democratic out of bad habits, I suppose.That's my opinion off the cuff.
