Once Missing Major From North Carolina Returns To Georgia Base

POSTED: 1:28 am EDT September 15, 2006 UPDATED: 1:48 am EDT September 15, 2006

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- A North Carolina native who told authorities she was kidnapped during a shopping trip in Kyrgyzstan has returned to her Georgia Air Force base.

Maj. Jill Metzger was reported missing last week and the same week was found by local officials. She is a native of Henderson, N.C.

Metzger arrived at Moody Air Force Base at about 6 p.m. Thursday. She had been deployed to Manas Air Base.

Metzger told Air Force officials that she was focused on getting back to normal and wanted to spend time with her family. Her family met her at the air base.

Sounds similar to 'Runaway Bride Syndrome', but you wouldn't expect such behavior from a Major. Unless her commision were a Major mistake.

Maybe she got really ripped in bar and woke up 3 days later with a hangover??

I know it happens.

Woman don't belong in harms way in the military.

Flame away.

I did see this in an Air Force Times article that I couldn't post.

"But exactly what happened to her remains a mystery, due in part to the Air Force’s refusal to tell what it knows.

Even after Metzger had returned home, the Air Force would only say she is with her family and will continue working with psychologists and a reintegration team."

I'm thinking that she was assaulted in unmentionable ways that the Pentagon refuses to bring to light because it might incite people to retaliation against muslims. But it's just a guess..........

You obviously see the absurdity in you post hence the "flame-away" sign-off....

Besides, she was shopping at a local mall...hardly front line stuff...

When it comes to shopping at a mall I couldn't think of any gender more suited.....

No, not Internet brides. I know of one personally who this happened to. It is very common and very difficult for the woman to escape before marriage.

This woman was a paper pusher in the military.

She disgraced herself and the military.

Video surveillance shows her walking away from her group, ALONE. She was found ALONE.

But she could have been kidnapped because she was alone, and away from video surveillance..........

What happened to the buddy system? My son was recently on an Army mission in Kygyzstan and he and his troops go nowhere offbase alone, including this shopping mall.

She says she overcame the male guard and then ran to a distant house. Since she fled on foot we would have to assume the combat teams and the police moved on the dwelling she was kept at.

I haven't been able to find any reports about our intense searches for the culprits.
