Maybe the Associated Press's world awaits a papal apology.

But do they think the rest of us even WANT the Pope to apologize?

Let's get the headline straight, AP: Crazed Islamo-Fascists Demand Pope Jump From Balcony of Saint Peter's To Show He's Sorry.

Anyway, according to the Vatican website, this is what the Pope actually said, about 45 minutes ago:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Pastoral Visit which I recently made to Bavaria was a deep spiritual experience, bringing together personal memories linked to places well known to me and pastoral initiatives towards an effective proclamation of the Gospel for today. I thank God for the interior joy which he made possible, and I am also grateful to all those who worked hard for the success of this Pastoral Visit. As is the custom, I will speak more of this during next Wednesday’s General Audience. At this time, I wish also to add that I am deeply sorry for the reactions in some countries to a few passages of my address at the University of Regensburg, which were considered offensive to the sensibility of Muslims. These in fact were a quotation from a medieval text, which do not in any way express my personal thought. Yesterday, the Cardinal Secretary of State published a statement in this regard in which he explained the true meaning of my words. I hope that this serves to appease hearts and to clarify the true meaning of my address, which in its totality was and is an invitation to frank and sincere dialogue, with great mutual respect.

More than enough.

OK, Islamos, as you were: back to the hookah pipes and anti-USA rallies!

With great mutual respect?

The muslims dont respect anything. I doubt the Pope has much respect for Islam.. Its a nice phrase I suppose, but how do you respect Satan.

The pope was right, and nothing proves that better than the type of muslim reaction we see worldwide:

The title could be:"The muslim side of the philosophical dispute"

My apology to Islamofascists is as follows:

Dear Islamofascists,

I deeply and sincerely regret . . .

That your parents ever met.

In time may you come to share my views on this matter.

And may that time be quick in arriving.

It won't appease the truly evil - who in any case want us dead. Even the Church has been compromised by the cultural assault of moral relativism and feminist sensitivity so much the norm in the West today. I have grave doubts of its ability to survive the Muslim surge in the moral wasteland that is Europe.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus

I don't get it.

Why use a quote that implies islamic use of violence to exact "submission" or "conversion", which the islamics in turn prove by their response to his speech...and then say the quote doesn't express your personal thought.

This whole event proves that islamics use violence and the threat thereof to demand submission...and then the Pope demonstrates how it works to the world by "submitting."

In the town of Tulkarem, a 170-year-old stone church built 170 years ago was torched before dawn and its interior was destroyed, local Christian officials said. In the village of Tubas, a small church was attacked with firebombs and partially burned, Christians said. Neither church is Catholic, the officials said.

Palestinian Muslims hurled firebombs and opened fire at five churches in the West Bank and Gaza Strip Saturday to protest the Pope's comments, sparking concerns of a rift between Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

Muslims will be Muslims.

What are you talking about?

Did you read his speech from last week?

Did you read his words today - in light of that speech?

Submitting?

If you want an example of SUBMITTING, I suggest you look at the cowardly remarks of Pope Shenouda III who CONDEMNED HIS BROTHER IN CHRIST . . .

and then listen to the supportive remarks of our "partners in the ecumenical dialogue" . . . cue the crickets!

Now, THAT's SUBMITTING!

World Awaits Apology from Pope During Sunday Appearance

The Muslim World is waiting. The rest of us actually heard what the Pope had to say, and are satisfied. Muslims are savages who cannot be reasoned with.

No apology.

Only an expressed regret that irrational muslims (who believe in the bad parts of islam that the emperor noted) are being so stupid.

Obviously, you don't understand the MO of islam.

Submission is not conversion only, it is also dhimmitude (submitting to the will and dominance of islam).

By making an apology that includes a statement that Pope essentially doesn't believe that islam uses violence to demand submission to itself and to do so under the direct or indirect threat of violence...is to "submit" under the threat of violence.

We need some parody music, here on... "We are the world..." to accompany the whining of murderers.

Just think what a good Monty Python scriptor would have done with this.

"Ah, yes. I'm from the Ministery of Grizzly Murderers, and I'm here to ticket you for referring to a cite from a man who lived long ago".

I'm hoping for a call to reclaim all lands stolen and occupied by the barbaric Islamofascists.

The Muslim clerics have already issued a death warrent for the Pope based on this episode.

The Pope did not submit. He carried forward in the faith, and in his pastoral duties. He offered Angry Muslims his "other cheek." He'd far rather take on their fury, IMHO, than to see the murdering Muslims murder innocents in the name of their "war" upon all diverse and unique humanity. His Robes are Blessed.

Yes, the Pope is sorry and saddened that the Murdering types of Muslims refuse to acknowledge truth, put the cite in context, and behave civilly. That's what I understood of his words. It saddens him greatly they persist in following that particular text of the Koran; to kill infidels and non-believers.
