And you know this how? American home ownership is at an all time high, so I guess people aren't complaining about the quality of homes if they are buying them.

Home owners do sue builders for faulty construction.

There are so many complaints here (Oregon) the Construction Contractors Board requires a fee from home owners before accepting the issue.

70% are quality issues in the lower end (price wise) of tract homes.

"Probably because the employers a) want to keep that extra sliver of wages for themselves, and b) prefer workers that don't require benefits and that won't complain if they're mistreated."...that can be used as a hammer against non-illegal employees who complain about being forced to work same hours, train and supervise illegals (in Spanish, btw), ask for raises, etc., etc., etc.

Remember, I wrote some time ago about my son-in-law, who worked for an office and apartment management company in a supervisory position, was fired on his birthday (week of December 12th) with no notice. Company stated that they had no problem with his work, (he was on call, 24 hrs Sat & Sun every other weekend)work ethic, and no one had complained regarding his service, etc. but they "needed to cut back their payroll."

Looking for a job during the Christmas holidays was not exactly a treat but he persevered and in 3 months landed another one in a related field. His buddy, who worked under him, eventually moved into his former position and each and every other position was filled with illegals.

Company certainly managed to "cut back on payroll" all right - cash payments under the table, no taxes, workmen's comp., social security, etc.

I am always annoyed when people think we need illegal workers because legal workers won't work as cheap, because they can't survive on the low wages. News flash to those who think that way- illegals cannot live here on the incredibly low wages either. Thier living expenses are subsidized by social programs paid for by citizens.
