As many as 30 farm workers are hospitalized along with two health care workers at Methodist hospital in South Sacramento. They were accidentally sprayed with an organic phosphate spray while working in an apple orchard on Grant Island in the California Delta. They were working in the orchard when a crop duster sprayed where they were working.

I knew a Dan Woeker once - I wonder if there's any relation.

I've always wondered. Does that sort of a comment imply that one's immigration status should determine whether it is acceptable or not to be accidentally sprayed with organic phosphate?

operations based on illegals are ALWAYS competent. ALWAYS.

Speaking to the competency of the operation.

This stuff is a cousin of nerve gas.

I do not think the Civil Trial Court will consider the question about the workers immigration status.

In the end they will be legal and very rich.

Help me out (again). Are you implying that one's immigration status determines whether one will be accidentally sprayed with organic phosphate or not?

Or fall into a pond and drown, or cut off one's hand, or... let's say folks looking to make a quick buck off of near slave labor aren't all that solicitous of the care of the plantation people, after all there are dozens more where each one came from and they will NOT complain to Uncle Sam.

After my paternal and maternal grandparents lost their farms and land in the Depression (it had been in the family for 5 generations), the family, including my mom and dad, became migrant field workers and remained so until the 1950s.
They were not illegals. Farmworker doesn't automatically = illegal.

I think the story probably is referring to "organophosphate".

I see it as an opportunity to collect workers compensation and then followed by social security disability, all on the taxpayers teet. Maybe just irrigating with e-coli infested flood waters?

True enough, but you can bet most are today.

In your day people had to go to a place called Ellis Island and cleared of all diseases before being given permission to ender (if at all).
Today IMO they have sainthood bestowed upon them by some politicians for breaking the laws and even some ID fraud.

Still, no reason for a crop duster to do what they did, that was still really retarded.
