The libertarian argument has nothing to do with cost factors.

Good for the police.

I beg to differ.

They should have gone on to finish the job. Now the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for a trial. But why? We all know that he's guilty. Why would the police have kicked in the door if he wasn't? Why waste money on a trial? They should have shot the little bastard on the spot.

And when you get right down to it, why waste time waiting for the rest of her brood to go bad? Or for her to pop out more little hoodlums? You know how those people are. Once one goes "gangsta", the rest are sure to follow. The cops, if they were really on the ball, should have lined them all up in the street and popped each in the back of the head. You had better believe that that would send a message to the rest of the drug dealing neighbors!

SOP = "Standard Operating Procedure"

My anecdotal evidence is at odds with your unsupported opinion. Quite a lot of students do smoke cannabis, graduate and go into the work force. Sorry to disappoint you.

Yes, there are several effects of cannabis that are well known, but your notion of the effects thereof of a person's life is merely something you've been told by people you trust and did not check their references. Reality does not bear them out.

"Experiencing life shouldn't include the illegal use of drugs, alchohol, or any other substance that will alter your personality. If you think that by giving your children free reign to "experience life" you did them any favors your wrong. Discipline and accountability are much more important for children than leniency and freedom. IMO, your parenting style is both irresponsible and unaccountable. A parent is and should always be accountable for the actions of their children. If you think otherwise, than we can end this argument, because I honestly don't agree with any other parenting style. If you want to call me too strict so be it. BTW, until children reach voting age they have no rights and privilages other than those granted them by their parents. Unfortunately some children are given more rope than they deserve and end up hanging themselves or others in the process of "experiencing life"."

Obviously we have a disagreement in parenting. Course my parenting didn't mean my kids could abuse alcohol or drugs.
I do know they tried alcohol and am not sure about any drugs. If they ever did experiment I don't know and don't want to know. Regardless today my daughters are successful business women probably making more in a month than you ever made in a year. One is a real estate broker operating any agency with about forty agents. The other is a mortgage banker. So I am satisfied the wife and I were a positive influence in their lives.

Suffice it to say they would both be very disappointed to read comments like your above regarding their daddy and his parenting skills. Course they'll never know so flame away in your ignorant bliss.

There is the case of the man in Mississippi who shot and killed a cop (the son of the Chief of Police) who had broken into the wrong house on a drug raid, I think his name is Cory Maye. He was convicted and given a death sentence (which has been set aside).

Last year I was in Iraq and my unit occasionally went on raids. Usually someone kicked in the door, but we rarely had to shoot the dog-and pretty much every Iraqi household has one (though they aren't exactly pets).

This is bovine excrement.

I think it needs to be repeated, because you missed something in what I said from the last post you're referring to.

"Yeah, the universities are full of math and science students that smoke pot while they study and before they take tests."

Standard Operating Procedure = SOP...My brothers son, yeah he is my nephew.....got into a situation. The K-9 units were called in. He was selling drugs or some other bad thing at a park. When the cops sent the dog after him, he fired a round in the general direction of the dog. Then he threw the pistol down and lay on the grass in the "position". Among the charges, were assault on a police officer, with a deadly weapon. The court found that he never intended to shoot at the human, but at the dog that was chasing him. He is locked away for 5-7. If a police dog chases you, treat him like a uniformed officer. You will be judged on how you treat him.

Yeah, I'm sure the cops did everything wrong, and this family didn't do anything wrong. They were perfect angels.

Oops... My bad!

(It is, however, pretty scary to think that something that should have been obvious sarcasm just blended right in with some of the other remarks. Normally, going "over the top" to make a point doesn't require solid rocket boosters!)

Ok, you're correct that I was harsh in my judgement. I apologize, truly. You are also correct in our difference of opinion on parenting. Let's agree to disagree and build the bridge here, how's that?

[Does not seem very complicated except to users and sympathizers.]

And the corollary of that is: it's pretty simple if you're ignorant and lack sympathy.

Darn right. We should also not be eating fatty, sugary, oily, spicy or other bad foods which tend to degrade our bodies and shorten our lives, and engaging in activities which expose ourselves to nature unprotected is completely out of line. I propose we make ALL of it illegal right away.
