Wal-Mart Not Too-Smart
Family Leader ^ | Friday, September 29, 2006 | Maurine Proctor

Posted on 09/29/2006 9:14:41 AM PDT by restornu

We've just begun a serious discussion at our house about whether we will withdraw from shopping at Wal-Mart. They are close by; we spend thousands of dollars there a year; but they have succumbed to pressure and are actively promoting the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage. Just look at what they are doing in Idaho, where Family Leader is working hard to pass a state marriage protection amendment.

Enough is Enough

Wal-Mart Sponsoring Diversity Week

The following is a report from our friends at the American Family Association. We work in coalition with them on several projects through our Washington D.C. affiliation.

Wal-Mart has given its full endorsement to the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage. Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, will observe LGBT Diversity Week October 9-13. One of the sponsors for the Diversity Week is Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is joining the Pleasure Boutique (an adult bookstore which bills itself as "Idaho's largest selection of adult movies and DVDs and largest adult toy selection in Idaho") and other groups in sponsoring the week. Diversity Week is a week of celebrating homosexuality and promoting the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage.

Among the events being sponsored by Wal-Mart is Idaho Votes No Campaign Update and Information Workshop. Voters in Idaho will be voting on a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage in November. This Wal-Mart sponsored event will inform voters how to oppose the amendment and how to get others to do so. Wal-Mart is putting their money behind the effort to legalize homosexual marriage.

Other events being sponsored by Wal-Mart: Gay History of Idaho, Diversity in the Workplace, Women's/Lesbian Issues, Hate Based Crimes, Heterosexism, Homosexuality and Disabilities, LGBT Youth in Trouble, MCC-Faith and LGBT, and a youth dance for those age 24 and under.

Wal-Mart is throwing their clout and cash behind the homosexual marriage effort.

"But today many are in your face so you don't have to ask!"

Hey, if they're coming into my store to buy something, I don't care. Now, that's diversity. Anyone was always welcome to give me money for goods or services. Amazing how well that worked.

You're right, though. Lots of people declare their affiliations on their clothing, their hats, their cars, and other places. They're in your face all the time with that stuff.

I never minded when someone came into my business with a "Jesus Saves" T-shirt, even though I'm an atheist. They were welcome to shop there.

"their prices are not worth the cost of gas to drive there.Target is closer"

I think that is my favorite anti-Wal Mart attack of all time.

You'd spend an extra 10 cents to drive to Wal Mart in order to save 2 cents?

Could I get in on it too? I seem to have a knack for getting freepers really upset...

Checks aren't obsolete here. Not even close. Target, Sears, KMart & nearly all local merchants still take them with a smile. And they don't even try to make banking decisions for me. Its not my loss, its Walmart's. I am doing just fine.

I don't like the T's shirts that say "Jesus Saves" either it makes me squimer for I love the Lord and would not push him in some one else faces!

It really is offensive!

Or those jerks who would deface the pay phones with "Worship God"..

I swear it really was the work of the devil to get folks turn off of religion!

"It was once much more common on paper than it is now, but the underlying realities very often didn't match the idealistic stereotype. Many women were stuck with alcoholic dead-beat husbands, or were viewed as unmarriageable if they left them, because divorce was frowned upon -- and children were stuck in the miserable home. And most people didn't marry for love, they married out of economic necessity and lack of any other available marriage partners in their area, or due to the woman being pregnant. "

If even your fantasies are this depressing, what is reality like for you?

And now watch all the "CONSERVATIVE" pro-gay freepers blast and flame anyone who is fiscally conservative in spending their money.

Where's the popcorn?

You mean like this?

DURASELL'S ALL-INCLUSIVE, ONE-STOP-OUTRAGE SHOP

Those other guys are wrong and you're right. How dare they! They're morons, complete and utter morons and must be stopped. Whoever they may be, they must be stopped today.

REMEMBER, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR POLITICAL BELIEFS, RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION, AGE, SEX OR MARITAL STATUS -- DONATE TODAY TO STOP THE OTHER GUY! DONATE BECAUSE THEY'RE WRONG AND YOU'RE RIGHT!

"What does the Supreme Court and "Truth" have to do with me...."

I was right, you do need an adult to explain it to you:
There can be only "one truth", not "many truths".
Perhaps you subscribe to the libertarian idea that each person creates his own truth - (and all behaviours are equal and OK), and taking that tack you may as well rely on the Supreme Court to tell you what truth is, or NARAL, or Bill Clinton for that matter.
If there is no one source for truth, then how do you know that the things you believe are valid - 'cause they work for you? Go back in history and see where that mind set has gotten us.

Yah, but if you're in business to sell stuff to folks, it doesn't matter whether they're obnoxious religious folks or obnoxious rap fans. They come in the door with their slogan clothing, buy something, then leave. Who cares?

These days, everyone seems to have some cause or another to push. They've got clothes that say so, bumper stickers, little ribbons...whatever. For a good business owner, none of that stuff matters. Everyone's welcome to shop.

That's why you won't see political slogans or religious stuff plastered everywhere in successful stores. The stores that do that are soon out of business. Business is business. That other stuff is not business.

Wal-Mart can fund as many homsexual parades and such as they want, and I wouldn't care, but when they put their money behind politically opposing a petition on the November ballot that thousands of Christian Idahoans worked to place there, THAT pisses me off.

They have no business interfering with elections to placate homosexuals.

"DURASELL'S ALL-INCLUSIVE, ONE-STOP-OUTRAGE SHOP"

I like it. You could have tabs at the top of the page, so visitors could click on their favorite outrageous thing. Just don't forget those all-important [Donate] buttons.

Also, you need gear to sell. T-shirts, hats, and that sort of thing. Fortunately, there's CafePress, which will handle all that stuff once you design it.

I see a big future in the outrage business. But...I'm not going to say any more, for fear that it'll become the next internet trend and dilute all that money.

ARE YOU OUTRAGED?
WE'LL SHARE YOUR OUTRAGE AND SPREAD IT AROUND!

You do realize this attitude is going to cause a lot of people to become outraged, don't you?

And that's the beauty part -- even folks who are outraged by the concept are potential customers!

That's not quite true when it comes to their eliminating firearms sales.

Here in Southern Oregon, most of the stores have stopped, or will stop, carrying guns. If this had happened because of market evaluations, that would be okay, but So. Oregon is a hotbed of gun ownership, we've got tons of gun stores and firing ranges, and folks are pretty upset about Wal-Mart getting rid of all their gun departments.

I believe that the reason they're doing so is to placate the liberals, both in the media and in government, NOT in response to changing markets.

Why does it matter if the things one believes in, that cannot be proven, are valid or not? And how does one know if they are valid? Doesn't this require a belief?

That's true. That's why I just registered IHateDurasell'sOutrageSite.com I might as well make money off that, too.

While I was at it, I registered OutrageSucks.com, too, to see if I could get people who are outraged at outrage in general to donate, too.
