Also a factor is the fact that McCarty already represents a significant portion of Foley's constituants on the County Commission, so that many of the voters have already voted for her before.

Delray Beach ain't in the district. She would have to carpetbag.

Hey, don't blame me. I did note vote for Charlie Crist. However, he is the one that won the primary. Would you rather me vote for the democrat, or not vote at all?

I suppose we'll see, but I'm thinking this is a weak Lean R seat now, possibly a Toss Up. We aren't talking about some ultra-GOP district. The FL-16 is less GOP than FL-13 to begin with.

foley's district has to be considered a strong GOP district, since the last empirical data, we all have(the 2004 election) shows that foley won that district with 67% of the vote.

If the Pubbies can find a good candidate, I think they will hold on to that seat, despite your usual gloom and doom AG.

And this is politics, there will be many who want to run for that seat.

Some of us want to know how long the dem operatives sat on this info! If the emails were sent back in July...WHY DID THEY WAIT UNTIL NOW AND LEAVE OTHER CHILDREN AT RISK? FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES!!

We are talking about the scenario where Foley's name remains on the ballot, not whatever it is you're talking about.

If he had been a democrat, barney frank would have been on the airways by now, saying there is a "whiff of fascism in the air" like he did during the 2000 election in Palm Beach county.

The "whiff of fascism" nonsense was spouted by NYC's own, Jerrold Nadler. I don't think there's a bigger disgrace of a liberal NYC congressman than he. Even Charlie Rangel can be right about something once in a blue moon.

Yes, of course it is. If the GOP does not have a good candidate in the bull pen, it will be lean Dem, up there right after the forlorn four, perhaps.

PS. It's unclear what exactly you mean about a vote for Foley being a vote for Jeb Bush. I'm sure you know perfectly well that Jeb cannot appoint a replacement. Do you mean to say that a vote for Foley would be a vote for a special election? It would, if Foley actually refused to take his seat. I'm sure it'll be pointed out that if Foley wins his current resignation is moot.

But, we are getting ahead of ourselves I'm thinking. Are we sure to begin with that Foley's name remains on the ballot?

Ouch. "The two things that no politician can be caught with: A dead woman or a live boy."

What an ugly mess.

Jerry nadler, barney frank, no political difference in terms of rhetoric, but thank you also for that correction, I think you can understand how one could get those two confused.

One article says the newspaper interviewed the kid last Nov. but decided not to run the story til now......seems Foley would have heard rumors or something if this kid and his handlers were out shopping the story.
