What about the Log Cabin Republicans? They were financially a strong group and also helped in campaignign, etc.

so if a Republican is gay, the Republican party doesn't want them? That seems dumb to me....Cheny's daughter is lesbian and she has helped on the Republican campaigns.

Apparently what Foley did might be a felony under his own bill that he got passed. Talk about being hoisted on one's own petard.

"Guys, he resigned. That ends his involvement in holding the house. The details of what he did and if it's bogus or not can be addressed in the context of his fair trial and all that sort of thing AFTER WE HOLD THE SEAT. The GOP needs a replacement candidate THIS WEEKEND."

I agree and have to admit that it is giving me the creeps that I might come off like I am defending this scum.....lol
My angle is that there are some nefarious characters behind these PM's dating back to 2003!
>>>

Any oddities we might discover in this evidence DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE HE RESIGNED. That ends the importance of his situation in holding the House. He is as of this moment a private citizen with a possible upcoming legal problem which should not distract us. ALL attention needs to be focused on essentially forgetting about this event and not losing a seat that was thought to be safe.

The way you do that is get the party off its butt in Florida and get a replacement out and then hit the phones making sure all GOP/conservative voters in that district know that a respectable replacement far superior to the Democrat is in place and how to vote for him.

We must spare no efforts in protecting this seat.

The chairperson of the appropriate district political party will call a meeting of the executive committee to designate a nominee to fill the vacancy.

Then there's deadlines for this and that which I won't go into because there's so many steps.

I'm on pins and needles as to who they'll select. Maybe Gallagher who lost to Crist in the governorship primary.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh!

Looking at what the DUmmies are saying on this story. They are of course using this as a excuse to bash ALL Republicans. Also being very careful to state that the majority of pedophiles are heterosexual. Funny, they never mention Barney Frank or the incident long ago regarding his townhouse, his boytoy, and the male prostitution service that was run from the address.

He shouldn't have resigned, IMO. If I'm his defense attorney, he'd be off in no time. He should have gone on O'Reilly or H&C and described just what I did. Pure bunk. I'm (semi) knowledgeable when it comes to comp. tech. and can't reproduce what ABC News is reporting. I have tried and tried again... to no avail.

Well the email to the Louisiana guy is pretty innocent and I don't think that can be used for any criminal prosecution. I am curious if the kid with the IMS is 17. If he is 17 then nothing illegal went on right? It is unethical because if the kid was still a page there is "abuse of Authority issue"

I think down the road we will find out that some gays set him up because they knew he would fall for it. Some gay magazine outed him as being gay way back in 2002/2003 according to one report I read tonight. The media will try to hide who the former 'pages' are, saying that they were underage at the time. I just don't buy that all of these former pages were watching ABC news last night when the other creepy(but not sexually explicit)email was reported and then all in unison sent ABC these PM's dating back to 2003. My son is in college and sadly he does not watch the news on a regular basis and never watches ABC...lol
However, talking about this is giving me the creeps....lol. Going to make a stiff drink and sit outside with my hubby. Ping me if you hear anything else though.

Jim Kolbe from Arizona is gay, and he keeps gettng re-elected, and the fact that he's Republican-and-gay doesn't bother me in the least, probably because he doesn't wear his sexuality on his sleeve, so to speak, and you don't hear about him chatting it up with teenage boys on the internet.

I don't know the details of the law. On this one, I am a mere conduit. There was nothing innocent about the ABC emails.

I don't care what your politics are, this man should be ashamed of himself. He's a disgrace and makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm not from the school of if a Kennedy does it it's OK either.

Both of these guys need to be out of public office and replaced with human beings that have morals and values.

Apparently under Florida law his name has to stay on the ballot.

From what the freepers who have been looking into this reported it is too late for Foley's name to be withdrawn from the ballot but the republicans can have a candidate who will take any votes casted for Foley. We are doomed now in Foley's district because no-one in their right mind will cast a vote under the perv's name.

As disgusting as these e-mails and (especially) IMs are, doesn't it depend on how old the teenagers were?

"Hey guys...remember on the other thread we were told not to rush to judgement about Rep Foley, not throw him under a bus, he hadn't done anything wrong, etc? Y'all get your apologies yet?"

Last night, we didn't have much in the way of "explicit" emails to hang this guy with. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt (shame on me)..until we learned more. All too often, in the MSM, just accusations are enough to destroy a person's career.

It does appear Foley was guilty of soliciting a minor (or more)...None of us owe anyone an apology..we were brainstorming..as we always do.

A kid can't type "im single right now" and press enter in two seconds. Can't be done.
