Serbia's parliament has unanimously approved a new constitution that claims sovereignty over the UN administered province of Kosovo.
The move, passed during a special session of parliament, opposes calls for the ethnic Albanian majority in Kosovo to be given independence.
'Integral part'
Mr Kostunica said the country's new constitution would provide a strong legal foundation for Serbia and allow it to move closer to European standards and values.
Mr Kostunica said there was no need to wait for the Kosovo issue to be settled before adopting the new constitution.
Instead, he said it would "cement the truth that Kosovo always has been and always will be an integral part of Serbia".
Until now Serbia has been operating under the old constitution of the former President, Slobodan Milosevic.

Just watched session. All 242 present mambers voted fore constitution, after that primeminister mr. kostunica allmost yelled "With this we claimed Kosovo", and that was followed by standing ovations.
Never saw something like that in Serbian parlament, unanimously voting and such national unity!
Does mean a move toward or away from Sharia Law for Kosovo?
Good for you, but what will the idiots in the UN and the EU do?
Interesting fact is that there are no troops availabe to force Serbia to relinquish Kosovo, especially if she is being supported by Russia.
Serbs are domestic Christian Ortodox people (like Greeks and Russian)
Albanians are Muslim illegal immigrants to kosovo (e.i. Serb jerusalem, cradle of ortodox christianity for Serbs, have monasteries that dates from 1200 AD)
Muslim illegal Immigrants, Albanians, are brought by Turkish Muslim opressors during 500 year of occupation, and that was even worstened when Muslim Albaniansy formed nazi SS divisions during WWII, and more worstened doring communist occupation of Serbia 1945-1990 when they actually flooded Kosovo and chased-out majority of Serbs. Crown of islamisation came during Clintons administration wen wollowing 78 days airwar against Serbia, some additional 200,000 Albanians camed from Albania to kosovo along with NARO troops.
in march 2004 Albanians made their "Intifada" burning Churches, buldozing hraveyards, killing and raping with British and german NATO troops just sitting aside and Just French foreinhg Legion and US troops stood against Albanians.
That was in short.
This was message to west that it is time to start another story over Kosovo. In short, I dont belive that west will go against all of Sertbia. So far, west was under impression that it will find in Serbia political forces that will accept independance of Kosovo, and this shows that there are none such political forces in Serbia.
I belive that Russia will support Serbia, but I would Love that USA do the same.
All we have from USA in Serbia are
1. Bad news
2. George Soros.
3. George Soros zombies
I would say "give them a taste of their own medicine", but that would be too cruel:
What Arab Civilization?
Arabs and Muslims appeared on the world scene in 630 A.D., when the armies of Muhammad began their conquest of the Middle East. We should be very clear that this was a military conquest, not a missionary enterprise, and through the use of force, authorized by a declaration of a Jihad against infidels, Arabs/Muslims were able to forcibly convert and assimilate non-Arabs and non-Mulsims into their fold. Very few indigenous communities of the Middle East survived this -- primarily Assyrians, Jews, Armenians and Coptics (of Egypt).
Having conquered the Middle East, Arabs placed these communities under a Dhimmi (see the book Dhimmi, by Bat Ye'Or) system of governance, where the communities were allowed to rule themselves as religious minorities (Christians, Jews and Zoroastrian). These communities had to pay a tax (called a Jizzya in Arabic) that was, in effect, a penalty for being non-Muslim, and that was typically 80% in times of tolerance and up to 150% in times of oppression. This tax forced many of these communities to convert to Islam, as it was designed to do.
Something like that :)
Anyway, in 2004 when Albanians wanted to cleamse all serbs, Franch Foreighn Legion battallion stationed in Serb Northern Mitrovica, opened fire on Albanians, and even started to arm Serbs to defend themselves from Muslim Albanians. Now THAT is rare example of bravoury of french Armed Forces.... Alldhough there are few French in FOREIGHN Legion :)
I dont belive that Serbian Army will do anything offensife or agressive towards US trops, and viceversa. Preoblem are German and British Troops both still living in III reich/Rule Brittannia dreams...
btt
I think they are too few to really matter. Anyway, this is going to be very interesting to follow.
G'night and good luck!
hehehehe.
Hope that we will liberate Kosovo soon and become pacefull nation once again... 500 years of dealing with islamofascists is looong time...
"...the truth that Kosovo always has been and always will be an integral part of Serbia".
Good!
Now lets remove the illegal alien/moozlim invaders from albania
realy I cant wait.
For half of year we are negotiating with "help" of "neutral UN mediators" and we are offering evrything BUT independance to Islamists, and they just keep chanting "independance", "independance" while killing Christians and burning Churches!
UN? NATO? failed organisations...
I believe that much of Europe is facing the music re: moozlims, and would not like to go down in history as being "for" a moozlim sovereignty in Europe.....certainly this is true for Britain, Germany, and France.
Kosovo is to Serbia as moozlim strongholds are in their countries......in recent times larger Europe has gotten a taste of what has gone on in Kosovo and elsewhere.....come to think of it, so has the US.
I'm pretty hopeful that if Serbia (meaning both the politicos and the population) stays on the consistent and insistent course there can be no rational western opposition.
Best wishes and luck to Serbia!
I hope this sentiment sweeps the globe and Islamofascists answer for their actions!
BELGRADE (Reuters) - Serbia will hold an early election after a referendum in four weeks on a new constitution reasserting its sovereignty over Kosovo, the prime minister said on Saturday.
Setting his course for a tumultuous conclusion to a year that has not resolved Serbia's crunch problems, Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said the new constitution, approved unanimously by parliament, ensures that "Serbia will defend Kosovo with all democratic and legal means".
"Kosovo is ours," he told parliament.
Kosovo's 90 percent ethnic Albanian majority demands independence from Serbia, whose troops killed some 10,000 Albanians and embarked on a massive ethnic cleansing campaign during an Albanian guerrilla insurgency in 1998-99, until NATO bombed Serbia for nearly three months to compel its withdrawal.
On Friday, the European Union effectively told Belgrade it would not resume frozen talks on Serbia's EU membership aspirations because Serbia had not kept its promise to arrest Bosnian Serb war crimes fugitive Rako Mladic, indicted in 1995.
The West insists that it wants to see a democratic Serbia joining the EU, but is adamant that Serbs cannot escape justice for atrocities committed by their forces in the 1990s.
Serbia's new constitution will replace the old Socialist blueprint defunct since the late strongman Slobodan Milosevic was toppled in 2000. It treats Serbia as a single republic, following the last departure in the break-up of the Yugoslav federation when Montenegro declared independence in June.
SYMBOLISM IS ALL
The constitution's main symbolic point is to reaffirm that the heartland province of Kosovo is an inalienable part of Serbia, and that Kostunica, a moderate nationalist, has not given in to Western pressure to concede it.
Anti-government demonstrators chanted slogans against the constitution on Saturday, saying it was a rushed job pushed through for political reasons, not constitutional reasons.
No major political party in Serbia will publicly concede that Kosovo may be lost, despite polls indicating only 12 percent of Serbs think it may still be saved.
Pro-Western parties fear that to do so would cripple them in the coming election battle against the ultranationalist Radical party, Serbia's strongest.
Kostunica set no date for the snap election, but pundits say it will be in mid or late December. Parliament set an October 28-29 date for the referendum to ratify the constitution. If it passes, Serbia can call for new elections 45 days later.
Kostunica told a news conference earlier that he had asked the liberal G17 Plus party which supports his minority coalition not to carry out its threat to quit this weekend but to stay on until preparations for the elections were completed.
"I am sure that all this will go very fast. The government is bringing its mandate to a close," he said. "We have a job to do. We have a referendum and after that elections and there is nothing more important for Serbia than that."
"I am convinced the people will confirm at a referendum that Serbia needs a new democratic constitution and that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia," Kostunica said.
Belgrade has warned Western powers leaning towards granting Kosovo independence that it will set a dangerous precedent in the ethnically mixed Balkans, and could also boost the electoral strength of Serbia's ultranationalist Radical Party, the main threat to the re-election of a pro-western government.
Good for the Serbs!
"...the European Union effectively told Belgrade it would not resume frozen talks on Serbia's EU membership aspirations..."
The Serbs might well be better off without ceding a damn thing through EU "membership, because it is rapidly becoming necessary and popular in the EU to address its own moozlim problem. Does Serbia wish to give every moozlim in Europe the run of their country? I don't think so! Serbia already has plenty of moozlim/terrorist/illegal squatters it needs to send back to where they came from.
There won't be any Shari'a in Kosovo since the Albos are probably the worst Muslims around. They had no time for the Wahhabis who showed up to help them.
