A fugitive gunman accused of killing a Florida sheriff’s deputy was shot 68 times by SWAT team officers who found him hiding in the woods, according to autopsy results.

Police fired 110 shots at Angilo Freeland, 27, the target of a massive manhunt in central Florida following the shooting death of Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Williams Thursday.

“That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

Let me ask you this. What state of mind does a cop need to be in to kill someone?

Wrong. The perp showed a gun (remember he had killed already), there were 10 cops there and 9 fired. We're they supposed to discuss who was to fire so that only the required (in your eyes) number of shots were fired? Or should the have drawn straws? SHEESH!

It shows me they were merciful, he did not suffer. Good old MSNBC they let up on the troops long enough to give those protecting us here hell. Maybe we should paint signs on the enemy within and declare them free zones for criminals to carry out their dastardly deeds. All criminals free to react anyway they wish here in these zones.

“That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

Heh, heh, heh.

I think the good Sheriff just cemented his reelection with this non-PC statement.

Expect the ACLU to make an issue of it.

Glad he is gone.

My only wish would be for the cops to think the death of any citizen was as heinous a crime as the death of a cop.

They sure seem to take protecting and avenging themselves more seriously then doing the same for the rest of us.

The thinking behind that is if the perp shoots a cop he certainly would not hesitate to shoot a citizen. He is therefore extra dangerous.

68 times

The police are reinforcing a message out to criminals there is a special penalty for killing police: it's certain suicide. An extra $20 in ammo to advertise the message is a good deal for taxpayers.

Shooting the police oficer 8 times was a bit of gross overkill too.

Fact is the killer wanted that police officer dead.

Why should we hold it against the police for wanting the same thing for this slime.

The rule should be you kill an officer of the law you better be carrying a BIG white flag and lying prostrate on the ground when they come to get you.

The whole thing happened in about 4 seconds.

And what if these trigger happy guys had shot the wrong man?

They sent out 500 people looking for this guy because he shot a cop. Don't get me wrong I think the guy desreved to be shot, but why don't we extend the same force to nab other criminals? Are those lives not worth as much as a cops?

In the Tampa Bay/Orlando area, we do not mess around when getting cop killers.

Don't know. I suspect that if there's a photo op, they'll show up.

"That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more" -- oh, hahaha. Great anti-gun control line.

Not to worry. He didn't feel the other 67. I will guarantee that this killer will kill no more. It's called deterrence.

Also cops are not "trigger happy" Have you ever had to shoot someone? Have you ever had to make that decision and LIVE WITH IT?

Another thing, MANY of the cops were on their own time.
