Yeah, it would have been perfect if he had limited his celebration to an endzone dance and passed on the spike!

Hi All-

Catching a playground ball dropped from three stories would be a challenge. Not to mention the gentle "give" the catcher needed to provide to avoid injuring the baby in the process. It is akin to the challenging "egg toss" game we used to play at parties as kids. This woman is an absolute angel from heaven to have caught that baby.

The woman caught the little baby, not her son. He was racing up the stairs to try and grab the infant before she fell.

First, no abortion, second, trying to earn aliving by WORKING, third, sometimes things happen. We have six, and if ours were pulled everytime something happen4ed that could have been prevented somehow, we would be childless now. We either want a nanny state or we don't.

I know this is overly broad, but give the pool girl a break, she's doing her best with the resources available. Btw, this is just a general post, not in response to any particular prior post.

>>>13 is old enough for most responsible youth to babysit, provided they have domonstrated some level of responsibility. Obviously, this 13 year old is not competent enough and the mother used poor judgement. I was babysitting 3 to 7 year olds when I was 12. >>>>

There is a HUGE difference between a 3-7 year old and 9 month old.

The penultimate paragraph in the article:

"On Sunday, the child was returned to her mother because the mother did have a babysitter - her 13-year-old brother - assigned to watch the girl, Whitman said.

The baby's teenage mother left the girl with her brothers while she went to work Saturday, Jackson said.

At least she was going to work. I'd think maybe choosing someone other than her obviously senseless brothers to babysit in the future might be a good idea.

I am not suggesting the baby be taken from the mother!! I am, however, questioning the wisdom of her decision to continue to use her brother as a babysitter.

From the article:On Sunday the child was returned to her mother because the mother did have a babysitter-her 13 year old brother-assigned to watch the baby, Whitman said.

If a babysitter left my kid alone, I would not give them a second chance.

Even WMP and Manny can catch balls that fall from directly above them. The problem is they have awful range and should only DH. We have 3 DHs.

The baby needs to be put into foster care immediately.

Ugh. Foster care is usually worse than the teenage mother. It's never better, at best.

What a great story! I'm stunned that a baby that small could hold on so long - I thought that the only thing they could grab with a death-grip was your eyeglasses or car keys! ;>)

Interesting choice, mom sending son up the stairs rather than letting football-playing son take a chance on the catch. I guess she figured that he could make it up the stairs quicker.

"She's pretty cool," Brandon said of his mom.

Yeah. She's pretty cool, alright.

The baby needs to be put up for adoption immediately and the teenage mother should be required to have her tubes tied.

Oh how ridiculous. Why don't we just go through and sterilize all the undesireables. Hitler thought it was a great idea, maybe he was on to something...

Well, she needs to get out of that nuthouse, at the very least. The next time she may not be so lucky.
