In Massachusetts, one of our own Congressmen just a few years ago was caught in a sex scandal with an underage male page. Rep. Gerry Studds admitted that he was doing the deed with a 17-year old page. What was Massachusetts response to this scandal? We re-elected him five more times to Congress. Studds eventually retired in 1996 unvanquished, and, other than a “slap-on-the-wrist” censure, quite unsullied by the scandal.
That doesn't excuse Foley, it simply outlines the hypocrisy.
