1. Liberals believe individuals should doubt their own truths and consider fairly and open-mindedly the truths of others. (snip) Liberals are skeptical of censorship and celebrate free and open debate.

2. Liberals believe individuals should be tolerant and respectful of difference. It is liberals who have supported and continue to support the civil rights movement, affirmative action, the Equal Rights Amendment and the rights of gays and lesbians. (snip)

3. Liberals believe individuals have a right and a responsibility to participate in public debate. (snip) the elimination of obstacles to voting; "one person, one vote;" limits on partisan gerrymandering; campaign-finance reform; and a more vibrant freedom of speech.

I especially like how the liberal view is buttressed by referencing the views of Justice Holmes, Justice Brandeis (twice) and by trumpeting the (failed) Equal Rights Amendment.

Not much emphasis on the Constituion as the Law of the land. I guess ruling by judicial fiat is central to Liberalism.

In short, Liberals believe that too much of everything is a good thing... unless anything has to do with morality, responsibility or comes from people who oppose their philosophy.

What it means to be a liberal:

Living one's life according to what one WISHES were the truth, as opposed to living according to what one KNOWS is the truth.

After reading this Tribune editorial in its entirety, I noticed that I couldn't find a single reference to military force in the whole editorial, except one line about " . . . making sure enemy combatants are in fact enemy combatants." Their list of ways to protect the nation includes "expanded police forces and international diplomacy." Nothing about military force. So, one must conclude that one thing that defines a liberal is that he doesn't have a clue about when military force should be used . . .

Liberals are stuck in the 1960s ... perhaps they are even stuck in the 1930s ...

You might be a Liberal if:

You think Good & Evil is relative to the individual and/or circumstances.

Well said, Zeko. I wonder how our pointy headed professor would handle your logic in his class. Evidently they don't have wars in his universe.

Liberals are skeptical of censorship and celebrate free and open debate.

Where was this guy when the Liberal leadership of the US Senate was sending threatening letters to ABC in an effort to have a movie censored? One would guess he didn't want a 'free and open debate' on The Path to 9/11. One also suspects there are many other topics they would not want discusses free and openly...

And if Liberals like free and open debate, then why are they blocking voter referendums on homosexual marriage in Massachusetts?

I could go on and on...

I'm a Republican because...

I believe:

« that our government's most solemn duty is to keep its citizens safe.

« a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit will keep our economy strong and provide more opportunities for workers and families.

« that free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.

« in building an innovative economy to compete in the world, because America can compete with anyone, anywhere, thanks to our entrepreneurs and risk-takers who keep us on the cutting edge of technology and commerce.

« in strengthening our communities, because our children deserve to grow up in an America in which all their hopes and dreams can come true.

« in protecting our families, and I respect the family's role as a touchstone of stability and strength in an ever changing world.

I choose strength over uncertainty, results over rhetoric, optimism over pessimism, opportunity over dependence, freedom over fear, and moving forward over turning back.

Finally, I believe that the Republican Party is the best suited to preserve, protect, and defend these ideals.

This article pretty much proves Liberals are just like the Dims........if they truthfully articulated their beliefs and positions, everyone would see what a crock of sh*t it really is, so they have to lie about their beliefs.
