LOS ANGELES Mel Gibson calls his anti-Semitic rant following his arrest for drunk driving in July "the stupid ramblings of a drunkard."
In an interview with Diane Sawyer set to air on "Good Morning America" on Thursday and Friday, Gibson says while staying sober is a struggle, he has not had a drink in 65 days.
He adds that he plans to continue making movies and working to heal himself and those he offended.
In a partial transcript of the interview released by A-B-C, Gibson says "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."
The interview with Sawyer is the first time Gibson has spoken to the media since sparking a scandal by unleashing what he later called "vitriolic and harmful words" during his arrest.

Assuming Mel weighs about 200 that's four beers or thereabouts.
If Mel is four beers away from seeing Jews hiding under the wainscotting he was never that far away to begin with.

Gibson is outing himself as a true a$$hole.
As someone who battled alcoholism from age 26, to age 35, I can honestly say that during that time, I said and did things that I am profoundly sorry for. I "snapped" when my wife left me, and stayed in a drunken state for 9 years. I made a lot of money during that time, but personally, I was an emotional "basket case" . I overcame it by turning my problems over to God, and He saw me though. To pick on an alcoholic is no less cruel than picking on someone with alsheimers disease.

Thank you for posting your story, and especially in this atmosphere. The people on this board, most of who proclaim to be Christian, on this issue truly sicken me. Mr. Gibson obviously made a hideous mistake, apologized twice, immediatley went into rehab, and is trying to get help. I would like to hear what some of the people on this board say when they get drunk.

I imagine it is very hard for someone who has never had this problem to understand how profoundly it takes over your ability to reason. I thank you for your post, and appreciate your compassion.

Yeah Mel and when you first get sober one of the first things you learn is to shut your mouth and open your ears. Too bad in your first 65 days you were unable to do even do this. Unfortunate. Best of luck. You're going to need it.
What a horrendous thing to say. Even jokingly you never offer a drink of alcohol to an alcoholic who is trying to quit.
Why not take and gun and shot him and get it over with.
