Would be a great VP candidate but I don't know if he would be a good POTUS candidate.

I see him more in the role Rove is now playing. Newt combines a sense of strategy with an ideological approach more grounded in Reagan conservatism.

I have always thought that Newt is a far better "behind-the-scenes" strategist than "front man." He seemed much more adept as Minority Leader when he formulated the "Contract with America" than he ever did as speaker. Don't get me wrong, this is not in any way a criticism of Newt, it's just an observation of what his strongest assets are.

Newt is running for VP...pick any possible GOP frontrunner...McCain, Rudy, Frist, the Mormon..if Nerwt was the VP choice..it gives the top guy instant creds with the base...and Newt would no doubt negoitiate a very strong role for himself, behind the scenes...in policy matters..similar to what Cheney has now. Cheney has redefined the role of the VP..Years from now, we'll learn just how important he has been in helping Bush.
