i'm afraid they are latching on to conspiracy theory about the forward operating base falcon destruction earlier this month. a fire destroyed the ammunition dump at falcon during which, there was a huge explosion (that many daily-kossaks are convinced was a tactical nuke) producing a mushroom cloud.

What a bunch of morons. Clearly they know nothing about nuclear weapons or explosives in general. A nuclear weapon will not produce nuclear yield because it is burned or blown up by an outside explosion. All that will do is set off the HE in the nuke incorrectly and throw plutonium all over the place.

Secondly, when enough conventional explosives go off, it will produce a mushroom cloud.

i understand all that. there would also be questions about an 'emp' frying everything electronic within half a mile of fob falcon...

i'm not saying i ascribe to this theory. but, it makes sense that the nyt would be giddy about running such a story.
