The appeals panel has unlimited time but if the rule the judgement fair then he will be hanged w/in 30 days.

The question is, how LONG will the appeals panel take?? That's my concern. I don't want this to take long at all.

And I agree w/ the other posters; TELEVISE IT! How great would that be? A real popcorn moment :)

"Bring it on. The sooner, the better!!!"

You are right about that!!

I bet there are a lot of Iraqis who are afraid of fully and openly supporting Democracy because they fear Sadam being restored to power one day and retaliating against them. I think the sooner we get rid of Sadam and his evil regime, the sooner all these fearful Iraqis will be more eager to join in the cause for freedom.

There are something like a dozen more trials for him in their goofy system.

From further back in the article ..... “As for the other trials, the tribunal will judge those defendants still living, since those who have been executed can no longer be prosecuted,” Mr Mussawi said in June.

Ditto that! Why wait any longer- no appeals are necessary or warranted. Time to pay the piper.

What you mean he won't get nearly two decades of appeals while he waits on death row? I'm saddened...deeply saddened. /sarcasm

Looks like the Iraqis can tell a menance when they see one. From Al Jazeera:

Lawyer ejected

Ramsey Clark, Saddam's most outspoken American defender and a former US attorney general, was thrown out of the trial on Sunday and accused of insulting the people of Iraq.

Clark, a member of Saddam's defence team and a strident critic of the conduct of his trial at the Iraqi HighTribunal, attended the start of the session but was ejected before Saddam was sentenced to death by hanging.

"Get him out of the hall. He came from America to ridicule the Iraqi people and ridicule the court," Judge Raud Abdel Rahman said. "A bad arrow returns to the chest of its shooter."

After the hearing, chief prosecutor Jaafar al-Mussawi told reporters that the court would file a complaint against Clark with the American bar association, and also accused him of contempt.

"Clark submitted a study containing phrases humiliating to the Iraqi people and subsequently the court had no option but to take a decision to dismiss him from the session," Mussawi said at a news conference.

Sounds like the Iraqi court is seeing things correctly. Clark is a bad arrow and Saddam hangs. Nothing wrong here.

I think Cab Calloway said it best
You Rascal, You

Cab Calloway and His Orchestra, recorded September 23, 1931.

I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
When they bury you six feet deep
No more fried chicken can you eat,
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you.

I'll be oh, so glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I'll be standing on a corner full of gin
When they bring your dead body in,
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you.

I'll be oh, so glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I'll be oh, so glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I took you to my home,
You wouldn't leave my wife alone.
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, oh, you hound!

I'll be oh, so glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
I'll be oh, so glad when you dead, you rascal, you.
What's this thing you got
Makes my wife think you're so hot? You dirty dog!
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, oh, you hound!
