Bernie (along with Jeffords, Leahy and Howied Dean--not to mention the fact that I was tired of being one of 12 Conservatives out of 600,000) is the reason I moved from VT last year to Virginia.
Growing up in VT in 50's was great. Nice Conservative State.
Then in 70's Bernie moved there from NY (along with his band of merry Socialist) and it was all down hill from there.
Oh well, VT has the dubious distinction of having been the first State in the Union to field a "certified" Socialist as a Rep., so why not keep this shameful record as being the first to send a Socialist as a Senator?
How about the fact that like certain other stations (Conn.),
you can have a Lt. gov. of a different party...which is how
Howie Dean took office in '91 upon the death of (R) Gov.
Snelling.
The judges are great up there too.
Sounds like a similar reason why we moved from Delaware to Virginia 3 years ago.
Delaware is also another state that elects the Lt. Gov, seperately from the Gov.
