I was disappointed in Bush 41's lack of any type of campaign and his probably unintentional apathy ( I did vote for him in 1988). I did vote GOP in 94. In 1996, I found Dole to be a horribly ineffective candidate. I liked Dole, but in a time of peace in prosperity, he could not convince me to change course. I voted for GWB in 2000 because of the Lewinsky affair. I did not agree with impeachment but what struck me was that democrats were not just simply defending the man, which would have been understandable, but they were defending the behavior. Not everybody cheats on their spouse. Then 9/11. And over time, despite their many faults, the GOP is trusted more in the long term with national security by the people than the dems. This mid term does not change that. This midterm is what seems to happen to the party that controls the White House since the 1930's. it is not the country moving leftward, despite what Katie Couric and Keith Olbermann want to think.
