I don't care what Rudy's personal views are on social issues as long as he doesn't impose them upon the rest of us in the courts. I feel the same way about anyone else...if I can trust em with the judges, then they can be pro gay-partial-naked-midget-wrestling for all I care.

That he is. Nothing Maher does surprises me. If a Republican-someone came out against embryonic stem cell research, and they had a child with a spinal cord injury, Maher would be on Larry King claiming that Republican-someone wanted their child to die.

And this is a GREAT LINE, well said:

the world is Larry Flynt's oyster.

If Bush and Cheney both resigned, you would have Dennis Hastert as President (now) or if they did it after January 1, you would have President Nancy Pelosi.

Agreed on unseating Hillary. I wish he hadn't dropped out.

I think Rudy might make for an interesting Vice Presidential candidate, if he would be humble enough to accept that. He would have major independent/blue-dog appeal. Perhaps he should continue as a fundraiser and frontline campaigner for the GOP; you might call him a President-maker.

I cannot believe you would trust a social liberal to appoint social conservative judges. It doesn't happen.

Rudy might do well on a national stage, he's played pretty well in SC and Ohio and GA on the campaign trail but that's not the problem.
The media is going to make his public anal exam make the Clintons look like a cakewalk.
I don't think claiming "personal issues" is going to work for him and it's going to hurt him with some social conservatives.
I'm a conservative Christian and if he would run on tax reform, fiscal responsibility, national defense and real entitlement reform than I would vote for him.
However, he's not pro-life and the unanswered questions about how he would structure the government and more importantly judges on this issue is another invitation to drive out more of the base.

I see now. You're right, he did. I thought you meant he did a great job as RNC Chair in '04.

I liked Mark Racicot as well. But Gillespie was the best.

"It was Ed Gillespie who did such a great job in '04, not Mehlman."

It crossed my mind that it may have been another guy while I was thinking about it, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the correction. My second thought was right. Hell, those talking head party chairman types all seem to be the same lol.

I think in a perfect world he would be great (Allen) but after running one of the worst campaigns ever, I think he cooked his goose for '08.

Our major problem in this election and will certainly be in the next election is THE MEDIA. Until we figure out a way to get the message out to the people without the media filter, we're pretty much screwed.

Any ideas?

Of course, then there's the issue of illegal aliens voting in the next election !!!

I meant for Sen. Warner's likely vacating seat in '08. You are right though, for President that must wait.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion on that, but Rudy's got my trust. He has it because he earned it years ago.

I know everyone here is mad, but you should really go see what the nutroots is worried about. They are soooo mad the Lieberman won and could potentially give us control that it is hardly a victory for them Senate-wise.

It's pretty tough to come back in this biz. You get just about one shot. Although it has been done on occassion, it's not too common. It's a shame to lose him and Santorum. For our sake, I hope they both can make a comeback somewhere, but not likely.
