Sure, fine-tuning is needed to get the base back on-course. But values are in---really in---and they're not going away.

No less a liberal than Newsweak's Eleanor Clift has said that if the new Dem majority gives Alcee Hastings--an impeached ex-judge--a leadership position, the Dem majority is doomed, and will last only two years. That's how strongly liberals are taking the "values" message.


Even Nancy Pelosi knows the drill---Nancy snubbed liberal Rep Jane Harman (D-Cal) for a leadership role b/c Harman is under investigation by the USAG for allegedly getting improper help from AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying group, regarding the House intelligence committee.

Summing up---if the Dims make one false move on values, conservatives will be all over them like a cheap suit.

I saw that. She didn't even mention he's 7.5 million in debt. But Clift is one of the Dims' most reliable shills and is ready to defend them if they do the Alcee bit. And Harman's office did leak some of that intel to the NYT, it seems. So Harman isn't especially competent or trustworthy except in comparison to an impeached bribe-taking federal judge 7.5 million in debt.

Summing up---if the Dims make one false move on values, conservatives will be all over them like a cheap suit.

Not sure how worried they are. If they don't bash churches or do a gungrab, they'll skate along pretty easily, I think. I'm afraid that they now know the minefield pretty well and they show signs of being able to follow the map to skirt the real bombs. They learned the lessons of being in the wilderness for 12 years.

I remain hopeful that they can only suppress their true nature for a short period.
