I guess he has the votes of the other Senators to get that job.

You know what? I will seriously consider that. I am a conservative first and a republican second. That said, I don't believe in new parties starting with a Presidential candidate but rather at the local level. I will not work to split the vote against Hillary in '08 even if that means voting for Mc.. er, can't make fingers .. arrrrgh, erp.

It's not a "surname" problem... *sigh* ... it's the fact that he voted FOR the most amnesty laden bill since 1986 (both bills co-authored by Ted Kennedy)... S2611, last May.

Its almost like choosing between a Justice Clarence Thomas, and Justice Scalia. Who would you pick to run the Supreme Court? Both are judicially the same, but who do you want as president of the debate club?

I have found the state Republican Party in FL to be very unresponsive. They don't talk to consituents until they want money.

>This is a disaster

BS. Mel is a great friend, a very sharp lawyer, adamant on abortion, a victim of Castro, speaks eloquently, a strong Conservative, etc.

Everyone is anti-illegal immigration. The big fuss is over what should be legal or illegal.

Who should be some other potential candidates?

Steele has been mentioned.
Alan Keyes? He would run rings around madman Dean.
How about some other hispanic guy will a little more rabidness?
Coburn would keep the party in line.

I don't have a big concern with him other than when we needed energy assistance by domestic supplies he was the obstructionist.

Ditto for me.

Time for a little wake up and smell the coffee on Mel.

He is an outstanding man. He fled Cuba to get away from Castro, He is adamant on the abortion issue. He was the flag-carrier against Clinton/Reno's attemptws to send Elian back to Cuba. He debated Charlie Rangle and made him look like Donkey Dung on CNN/Larry King on the Elian issue.

We flew up to DC together on USAir the day after the election. He understands the issues and is very conservative on the ones that count.

We need Hispanic votes. There is nothing we can do to get the Black vote. Even JC didn't get the Black vote in his district! The Hispanic vote is critical for us and naturally ours because their strong religious base makes them naturally good, God-fearing people.

The Hispanic vote is growing faster than any other.

Let's stop eating our young because Joseph Goebbels wasn't appointed RNC chair!

Ahhh, so conservatives are Joseph Goebbels in the Republican party now.

I guess the reason that Republicans lost is that they didn't horsewhip Conservatives enough between 04' and 06'?

Goebbels was evil incarnate. He wasn't that brilliant as a PR guy. You are only as popular as how many people that you can kill that disagree with you. You poll numbers and ability tends to relationallly increase.

It was a weak joke. But I'll take the heat, how ever falsely put.

I LOVE Coburn...but he needs to be the Senator that keeps his fellow Senators in line, spending wise.

It has to be someone NOT interested in running in 2008..

How about Don Nickles???

~sigh~

Lamar Alexander and Whip seem so...so....odd. But maybe it's just me. There are a lot of things the Republicans are doing lately that have me befuddled.
