I do not believe these two pictures are of the same person. Look at the shape of the cranium... one is round and wide while the other one is pointed and narrow.
Both resemble the north end of a south bound mule though.

This sounds like the damned State Department at work again. Must not look at the facts, they might disclose that Ahmadinejad was a hostage taker.
To: RaceBannon
"But from the beginning, the White House and State Department made it clear they would rather not know the truth about Ahmadinejad because it would place the U.S. in a position of refusing to permit a head of government into the country to attend U.N. meetings." Thus validating Ahmadinejad's belief that the US is big, but unserious. This man belives he can get away with anyrhing, and the US State Department is enabling him in developing this concept. I thought Condi was going to clean house, but I guess she got discouraged and lost her broom.

But wait! Iran is supposed to help us out with Iraq!
To: RaceBannon
Sure looks like the *rick to me. But I am no expert on photo analysis and facial features. But enough people that where there, and the Iranian ex president say it is him. Why do people continue to doubt it.

Here we are guessing, but I would think there is software
out there that could put our guesses to bed.

That looks more like Jack Palance than Ahmadinejad. It's not the same guy.

This man would be 60 years old. This picture was debunked 3 years ago. I must say it gets boring.

So the Baker et. al. team are now leaking that they may want to 'make a deal' with Iran and Syria concerning Iraq. That may be what they recommend to Bush. So we are going to make a deal with potentially one of the 'students' responsible for the Iranian Hostage crisis ? The crisis that ended Jimmy Carters Presidency and began Iran's confrontation with the west. Hey Baker, why not make a deal with Saddam ? I am sure he can 'stabilize' Iraq for you.
For those of you who only get your news from the MSM. Here is how the original Baker/Powell Gulf War 1 actually ended. That war ended with the US asking the Kurds to revolt and overthrow Saddam all by themselves. We did not have the stomach to do it alone and we did not want to upset the Coalition or go beyond the UN mandate. What happened was a disaster. The Kurds rose up and Saddam swatted them down right under our noses. We did not even stop his helicopter based counterattacks. The Kurds were devastated and would not trust the US again for years. That left us with no-fly zones for 12 years where we had to try to prevent Saddam from attacking his people in the North and South. While Clinton was President Saddam counter attacked quite often. Clinton responded with pathetic cruise missile attacks. Then Saddam violated UN Sanctions and kicked the UN team out. He was becoming completely out of control again. That was what the original Baker/Powell plan ended up doing. If Bush follows their advice again, it will probably be another 12 year disaster.

Look at those lines under the cheeks. they would probably generate a lot of 'hits' on a facial recognition software analysis. Same nose too.

The ?
The guy with the question mark on him. Look at the nose.

If you want to determine how old that Iranian 'Student' hostage taker actually is, there is an old wise tale that unfortunately many women still use in the pickup joints of the world. The 'hands don't lie'. That is the hand of an early 20 something.

Let me see if I understand the point counter point of this debate. Just getting up to speed on it. A Russian releases this new picture. Definitely the same guy. However, was he at the embassy at the time ? What time was it taken ? Can we believe the Russian ? I went to the website you linked and it looks like the full head side view comparison images could have been altered in the nose area. Also the resolution is really weak. Not even conclusive who the man with the 'unhooked' nose really was.
Now why has this particular Russian released this new image ? Is he doing this of his own free will or for the Russian state ? They know that Baker et. al. might be recommending doing a deal with the Iranian President. Is this news a reliable release to make sure the public knows what is going on ? Baker is recommending a bad move. Or is this news an unreliable release to try to prevent the US from dealing with Iran ? Bottom line from my point of view is who would want to deal with this man anyway ? What is Baker going to recommend next ? Bush traveling to Venezuela to make a deal with Chavez ?

Yes indeed Iran's President is this very same scumbag. I hope Israel will get aggressive and take him out before he finishes the nuclear weapons. But with Olmert as Israel's Prime Minister, I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Benjamin Netanyahu would know what to do. Its a shame that so many Americans have no idea how evil Amademajad is. In his interview with Wallace and the speech that he gave at the UN. where he talked about "peace and love," convinced a lot of gullible people that they can trust him. I heard somewhere that Iran's President actually thinks that he is this 12th Iman that the Muslims talk about. I hope that the differences between the Shiites and Sunnis will prevent a huge Pan-Muslim alliance from being established with the Iranian president as the supreme leader. Possibly as many as three-quarters of Iranians, who are pro western, oppose his regime. Maybe there will be a coup in Iran soon.
To: JewishConservative
Who cares if it's the same man in the picture or not? Amademajad is evil, a self-proclaimed terrorist, a sponsor of terror, a ruthless dictator, a psycho-case with a yen for nukes, and an enemy of the USA in the WOT. We have enough justification to get rid of this guy by subtle means or otherwise.
But I would prefer to see the Iranians do it themselves, why don't we help them out, they have been trying for years.

Interesting. I didn't think the "famous photo" was him either. But this one that you posted - the nose is identical.

Looking at the hands is interesting. The light bump above his knuckle on his middle finger looks the same. The knuckles are small and protruding. The manner in which his fingers curve - the two smallest with a large curve and the other two in a straighter position - with the middle finger curved under.
