But anyone who knows Rep. Hastings' history should be afraid -- very afraid -- of having him so close to national security secrets. Alcee Hastings is currently a member of the powerful House Rules Committee and is a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). On the HPSCI, Hastings is the ranking Democratic member of the Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security.
Meaning he already knows those national security secrets, so at this point the horse is out of the barn, anyway.

Impeachment is one thing. But the Senate isn't strong enough. They think parading someone out for trial, be it Clinton or Hastings, is ENOUGH.
Why don't people see this and refuse to re-elect the Senators, when they are in dereliction of duty?
To: Red Badger
I meant no one 'circled the wagons' to protect him like the Dems have done for folks like Jefferson etc.

Another problem for the RAT Politburo. They can't have either Murtha or Hastings in prominent positions because they are scandal expos e's waiting to happen.

Naw, Amerika doesn't care. We gots to party tonight. Oprah comes on shortly. Survivor is going strong. The NBA High School League is going strong, college basketball has started, football is going hot and heavy, reality shows abound, pizza, beer, drugs, sex on airplanes, heck life is great. We don't need to worry about our stinking security. No one cares about that stuff. We don't have time to worry about that stuff. Heck, life is great. I have my free stuff from the government, heck I love living in socialist Amerika. The dims will keep us safe. They will take care of all our needs. Life is grand. Who cares if all them A-rabs own the middle east and all the oil. Big Oil is the problem anyway. Heck, we gots to go to the bar to watch the BIG GAME. /sarcasm still on.

It's hard to "circle the wagons" around somebody you voted to IMPEACH and remove from a lifetime appointment.......

Before the election, I saw Pat Caddell berating the Republicans for not making more of Democrat plans to put Hastings in charge of the Intelligence Committee.

Better yet, we should repeal the 17th amendment. (I became a big fan of such repeal after the Clinton impeachment)

There is absolutely no assurance that Hastings would not traitorously sell secret national-security information to the enemy, either through direct or roundabout methods and renumeration - and plenty of past actions to indicate that he is fully capable and very possibly inclined to do just this.
Republicans should go after this aggressively and vociferously if Hastings is indeed appointed to chair the House Intelligence Committee.

Pan_Yan (husband) wants to go back to the form where the state legislatures elect the US Senators. I wonder how that would change things?

Can we call all the blacks that are elected to leadership positions, "Uncle Toms"? Can we draw cartoons of them as slaves and Eyeball Pelosi as the slave owner?

Pan_Yan (husband) wants to go back to the form where the state legislatures elect the US Senators. I wonder how that would change things?Things would change in a major way to the good. The Senate was supposed to 'represent' the states themselves. I've long supported an end to the direct election of senators.
