The man who violated his oath of office and a second solemn oath before the impeachment trial, to agree, even before the trial began, that no witnesses would be heard and no evidence would be admitted.

I agree Lott is a good man.

Bullcrap. He lives to bust budgets with pork and earmarks. Gawd, he took taxpayers to the cleaners to buy that railroad easement along the Mississippi Gulf Coast - just to set up more bowling pins for the next major hurricane.

The Job of the Whip is to try to keep the GOP Senators in unison on important votes.

One would think That Trent Lott has just been made minority leader which he hasnt. I cant have no idea who was the Dem Minority whip was. In fact I cant recall who the Majority Whip was or amybe still is.

I'll dare to comment....

Lott knows these guys were instrumental in taking him down a few years ago. He understand parliamentary procedures better than any Pubbie. It might be a good thing. He might give these a$$holes fits.

Flame me all you will, but the party has a lot more to worry about that Trent Lott as the Senate Minority leader.

"I agree Lott is a good man. Bout time we stopped eating our own."

You kidding? It's DU without much cursing around here lately. Evidently every Republican sucks except the ones who can't win an election.

Maybe not Specter, but maybe some more fair-minded types would have forced Clinton to consider resignation if there were a real impeachment that exposed his lies and misdeeds over the years. Because of Lott, we'll never know.

This is a good selection, Lott is conservative, smart and pissed. I read this as a strong signal that our guys are going to fight the rats in the Senate.

He who velieves that Senate Republicans have all the independence of cats, is destined to herd them poorly, if at all.

The stupid power sharing agreement still ticks me off. There is a reason the VP is the tie breaker, to break ties. That is why that is part of their job description. Shared power Senate was a freaking joke that Lott played on us.

It seriously may be time for conservatives all over the U.S. to completely abandon the Republican Party and then successfully create "The Conservative Party"! The Republicans are now waging an inner war between the conservatives from within the party v.s. the "establishment/RINO" Republicans for full control of the Republican Party.

in the very first meeting Hyde and the House Managers had with Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott to discuss the trial's procedure, Lott told Hyde that: 'Henry, you're not going to dump this garbage on us.'

Probably a different Trent Lott.
