Over and over and over and over.

Remember this:

Lott "I don't have to work with them (GOP) anymore, they threw me overboard!" (202) 224-6253
Tony Snow show

Posted on 05/10/2005 12:13:36 PM EDT by watsonfellow

Tony Snow just finished an interview with Trent Lott. Senator Lott wanted to respond to an article in Roll Call to the effect that he had crafted a deal to dump certain judges to guarantee others an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor. According to an account (I didn't hear the interview), Lott called the report "exaggerated," adding that he has worked with Ben Nelson "from time to time" on a deal, but that the proposed deal "isn't much of a deal at all." Lott also stated that he won't accept criticism from Republicans for working with Democratic senators because "they're the same ones who threw me overboard. I'm free. I don't have to work with them anymore." Lott called the Senate a "dysfunctional institution." Lott may consider himself part of the solution to this problem, but in the context of the confirmation battles that remains to be seen.

I sure do.

Uh. Mitch McConnell is no Country Club Republican and I have been hearing that Lott is the best at Whipping. Which just happens to be what the Whip does. This is going to be a powerhouse Senate that will be a force to be reckoned with for the Dems and the Administration.

I agree he was better than Frist. I was not sorry to see him go the first time, although I think that the excuse for his removal was pretty lame.
I am just tired of the entire attitude in the Senate. Hair spray, expensive suits, and shiny shoes with fake smiles...the Senators seem more like snake oil salesmen with a patrician attitude towards the rest of us than statesmen.

He should have stepped aside for any reason. That man did as much as McCain to stab all of us in the back time after time.

He is weak, he only cares about pleasing his democrat buddies and he gets that approval fix only by undercutting the conservative agenda. The dems will use him as their tool to corrupt our efforts.

Mark my works. A zebra does not change its stripes.

HeeHee - FoxNews is already talking about his comments at Strom Thurmond's 100th Birthday Party...

Minority Whip will now take on a whole new meaning.

No, the Other White Meat Republicans are fully in control. Pork uber alles!

One of Trent Lott's famous quotes is something like "I am bringing home so much pork, that I have trichnosis". Expect to see more Navy carriers being built in Mississippi that the Navy doesn't actually want.

McConnell will be Minority Leader. (Remember, Harry Reid is the Majority Leader now.) Lott will be the Whip, which is the number 2 spot.

Good, he at least has some spirit and some loyalty.
He's also knowledgeable of legislative wheeling and dealing.

He wasn't a backstabber, he said little criticism of the leadership.

He could have been on TV all the time like McCain and Lindsey if he'd wanted to let loose.

What I don't understand is Mitch McConnell .. a far stronger senator. Why would he not be up for majority leader?

Mitch won Minority Leader

Trent won the #2 slot

Good move ONLY if they have a Pence or the like at #1..

I'm not holding out much hope for that now.

But he isn't. We have Jeff Sessions, John Cornyn, Jon Kyl.

All better choices. Unfortunately, both houses still go by tenure. One of the last stupid traditions.

I always thought Trent was pretty good. He seemed to be pro 2nd Amendment, but I can't remember if he was the one to just step aside and allow Brady to become law without a fight? Anybody know? He's a DC "insider" that's for sure. That's probably just what we need for the next two years. Somebody good with a knife in the dark....just so long as it is RATS getting the tip.

I'll take Lott over Lamar. Lott knows the rules and tricks in the Senate to help tie up the senate and stop HArry and Chuckie froming running over the GOP.

he is getting ready to bend over and "compromise" on your behalf.

Gee, do you think he'll be able to get the RATS to do that power sharing thingy since they are tied with 49 each???

And yes I know that the RATS have 2 that will caucus with them.
