Romney set to hire Alex Castellanos to lead his media war

According to sources, Republican media guru Alex Castellanos has been hired by the Governor Mitt Romney 2008 presidential campaign to run their advertising shop.

Castellanos is a veteran of big time Republican campaigns at virtually all levels and someone who is known to be as hard hitting as he is conservative. He is perhaps most famous for his “white hands” television ad during a re-election campaign for United States Senator Jesse Helms in which an employment rejection letter is crumpled up on screen by two white hands as the narrator explains how this person lost a job they needed and were qualified for because of affirmative action. The ad was controversial because the Democrat opponent of Helms in that campaign was black, in addition to being a supporter of racial preferences - former Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt. Of course Helms was undefeated in his Senate campaigns and had a first-rate political team - a team that single-handedly revived the presidential campaign of Ronald Reagan in 1976 that was on virtual life support until it won the North Carolina Republican primary againt incumbent President Gerald Ford.

Question: Which campaigns was Castellanos involved in in '06 (which LOSING campaigns, that is)?

and someone who is known to be as hard hitting as he is conservative.

That says it all to me. I'm so utterly sick and tired of wussy, jello spined types.

Who was the last guy elected President without having carried his home state? Romney wouldn't have a prayer of carrying Massachusetts.

Little Albert Gore didn't for sure. Often gets lost in the Florida hysteria. This very thing makes me think of Evan Byah for the Dems. He could deliver Indiana for the Dems for the first time since JFK - Kennedy that is, not John Faux Kerry..

To reiterate a point made on a previous thread, Romney's campaign is DOA b/c of being Mormon.

By the time the MSM is done with it, it will look kookier than the Scientology.

Fair? No. Reality. Yes.

IF he's not conservative at all,
THEN this means nothing in terms of results.

I'm not so sure because there are a lot of powerful Mormons in high places. Why didn't the Mass press do that?

If he wasn't Mormon, I think he'd have a lock. I still like him more than Frist, McCain, Guiliani, Huckabee and Gingrich.

Not enough at stake. In the presidential election, Utah will vote GOP regardless. The MSM won't care about ticking off that vote. Also note that Mass. is a bit sensitive on religion after how Irish Catholics were treated at one time. More slack than liberals normally give on that subject.

I don't think so. the woman on Britt's show this week, can't think of her name, is it easton? said something to the effect of how charismatic romney is, how he lights up a room, and (yes!) he has moved more to the right than others are now. He had a revelation when meeting with a Harvard md, and decided he wasn't pro choice anymore but would not break promise to the people of Mass about it. He is against amnesty as "it would only encourage more illegals", Also some poll of Frank Luntz picked Mitt as "looking most presidential".

MASS isn't CA, FL or TX... I don't think he needs to carry his "home state". I have also read that he has a "clean record.... nothing in his closet". He seems to be putting together a first class team. Right now he is my fav, especially for his supposed illegal alien stance.

You are SO right! Those that don't understand the Evangelicals (needed voting block) feelings about Mormonism and some of their very controversial practices and beliefs need to do their homework before they throw their hat in the ring for this guy.

The Clinton machine will use his religion, through the back door, to kill this guy.

Can we find a TRUE CONSERVATIVE with a mainstream religion that hasn't been divorced multiple times and isn't a RINO??????
