GOP chooses Boehner as minority leader

WASHINGTON - Cast into the minority by an angry electorate, House Republicans chose Rep. John Boehner (news, bio, voting record) of Ohio on Friday to lead a return to power as quickly as possible. "We're going to earn our way back into the majority," he vowed.

I'll second that...about Pence. Boehner may be a good guy, but this smacks of being tone-deaf. We need new leadership, so what do we do? Elect the same leadership.

That's right, the protection of incumbency. My theory is that we need to retool the primary system. I would like to see the house and senate walk their candidates to the gate, kiss them on the cheek, pat them on the ass and say good luck; that's it. No help from the senatorial election committee during the primaries. You're on your own! Save the help for the general election... I'm telling you that the reason Dewine lost in the general, was that Ohioan conservative voters felt helpless to the point that 6 years of Brown would be worth it to get rid of that RINO.

I would disagree. While Lott and Boehner may not be my first choice the facts are that Lott served as majority leader for about 6 years and held our majorities(not including when we got Jefford-ed). Boehner is not a bad pick, sensible and knows how to win. Give him a chance.

I agree on both men. Boehner will now get a chance without Hastert as the Speaker to prove to the naysayers on here that he was the man for the job IMHO. Boehner was part of drawing up the Contract with America with Newt.
