What if all the Christians in the country went just one year where they didn't buy any presents, but went the hand-made route or just got together? It would be sort of a year of jubilee from the materialism and I can guarantee that the next year every retailer in the nation would be saying 'Merry Christmas'. It's a big what if and I know it won't happen. But it's always fun to dream.
In a way we did that this year. Yes some purchases were made (we have an 8 yo, what can I say) but we made those purchases in October. IOW, I won't be involved in all the rush and one upmanship that has become December.
No need to "punish" all the retailers. Christians should only frequent those establishments that are 'Christmas friendly' and avoid those that refuse to honor the name.
Idea....is there or devise a list of major retail outlets with pro/anti christmas themes and distribute via net and blogs. Also distribute to the retailers as well.
FOOLS..they reap profits off the very name they reject yet benefits them.
