Details of the Iraq Study Group's upcoming report are beginning to show up in the media. They point to a compromise recommendation calling for a gradual withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq -- with no specific timetable.
The bipartisan panel, headed by former Secretary of State James Baker III and former Rep. Lee Hamilton of Indiana, was formed last April by four Washington think tanks and funded with $1 million from Congress.

What a friggin' waste...
Why? Are they designing a web page?
WTF is this fixation with non-elected poobahs making policy?!!
Their results (as far as I know) are not much different from what the Bush administration has been doing. Gradual withdrawal without any timetable.
Uh... I believe these a-holes advocating talking w/Iran & Syria as well.
Your tax dollars at work.
Without three things it won't amount to anything. First, our Iraq mission must change from embedded fighting to off-line training. Second, the focus should be moved to getting bin Laden. Third, implement the Israel/Palestine two-state solution.
IMO We have already won the War in Iraq. We accomplished all our goals we initially had.
1. We removed Hussein from power, and brought him to justice.
2. We destroyed any WMD production ability they had.
3. They have an elected government
We won the war, but now we're there for law enforcement and stability. Most of our soldiers being killed now are not in battle, but are killed doing routine patrols. Law enforcement should not be our responsibility. Leave that to the newly elected government; it's their job. We still need to stay for stability and insurance against Iran/Syria. So I think we should move all our troops to the border with these countries and inside the Green Zone. Stop the patrols; let the Iraqis do that. Our job now is to protect them from Iran/Syria (including fighters sneaking in) while they sort out their issues.
Rest assured, if the Baker Commission says we ought to leave Iraq now or negiotiate with Iran and Syria, the MSM will build it up as if it's the word of God.
If the Baker Commission says anything close to "stay the course," the MSM will dismiss it with a wave of the hand.
Either way, they win.
The results will be released next week?
Okay - let's all practice acting surprised when the findings only offer big lefty answers....
Well, ya see, they are nonPAAAAAAAAAAArrrtisan, and therefore, morally superior to us Neandarthals .....
I read the link, and didn't see this option...
kill al-Sadr, lay waste to the Anbar province, and put an SLBM up Assad's and Ahmenanutjob's butt...from the Survey Group.
I must have missed something.
5..56mm
Good morning.
While your option seems desirable... it does not fit into the We Failed Miserably scenario being foisted upon us by the non-elected 'experts' of the Study Group and our pacifist DBM.
You missed nothing.

Republicans should have called for a vote the day after the election!
