Yep. Too bad the American Left still doesn't grasp what is at stake - they're still busy deconstructing America's national identity on the one hand and reviling patriotism on the other hand.

I think it's fair to think Tony Blair has changed his stance due to feeling his goodwill has been betrayed. I believe the American Left will have to experienc such a betrayal too before they are awakened.

In a way, the American Left could hide from the truth by simply saying President Bush and the Republicans controlled our government, and any Muslim violence was an attack on the Republicans and President Bush, but not our whole nation. The election results will sweep that misconception away.

A Democratic controlled Congress will be seated next month. I've no doubt the Democrats will set out on a path of unilateral peace, love and harmony on international matters, and domestic tranquility among cultures. I've also no doubt they are going to learn what it is to be betrayed by those they think are have befriended. Tragically, I personally believe it is something we must suffer if we are ever to be a single nation set against our enemies.

I'm most interested in two situations that will be coming into play soon.

First, incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi defended Israel from the accusation that claims the Arab-Israeli conflict is based on Israel's control of the West Bank and Gaza. "This is absolute nonsense. In truth, the history of the conflict is not over occupation, and never has been: it is over the fundamental right of Israel to exist."

Secondly, she is part of the new Democratic majority that wants our troops out of Iraq as quickly as possible, thinking it will make both our nation and Israel safer.

I expect the Democratic majority will have success with removing our troops from Iraq. In the wake of our departure will be unbelievable bloodshed and violence, but some sense of a stability will ultimately be restored within Iraq. During the interim period between our departure and that stability, a great many Iraqis will have gained both terrorist and combat experience. I expect those battle-hardened Iraqi forces will soon thereafter be unleashed against Israel in a future conflict that will include grave acts of terrorism against the Israeli civilian population.

It is at this time I expect Pelosi and the American Left will experience a personal betrayal of her goodwill, much like UK PM Tony Blair has experienced.

Again, this is just one possible tragic scenario I envision, but I believe it will be necessary if we are ever to fight our enemies as one nation. It took just such an act of betrayal by the Japanese to unify our nation for WWII.
