Gallagher Ga-Ga For Obama: 'Solid Ideas, A Moderate'
Fox & Friends Weekend | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/10/2006 4:28:50 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Let's be generous and chalk it up to the early-morning hour. Otherwise we'd have to come down hard on radio host Mike Gallagher, who as a guest on this morning's Fox & Friends Weekend went ga-ga for Barack Obama. It's one thing to acknowledge as did Mike that Obama has appeal as a candidate. But, interviewed by Keran Chetry, it was Gallagher's praise for Obama's substance that shocked, coming as it did from a putative conservative. Said Gallagher:

"He's got some pretty solid ideas. He's a moderate."

Moderate?? If Mike would check Obama's record, he'd find that in addition to having received a perfect 100% rating last year from the paleo-liberals at Americans for Democratic Action, a host of other ratings Barack has received screams "cookie-cutter left-wing Democrat":

* Planned Parenthood 100% in 2006.

* National Right to Life Committee 0% in 2005-2006.

* Americans for Tax Reform 0% in 2005.

* NAACP 100% in 2005.

* American Conservative Union 8 percent in 2005.

* Illinois Environmental Council 100% in 2003.

* Children's Defense Fund [Hillary's old beat] 100% in 2005.

* National Organization For Women 100% in 2005.

* NRA, 'F' in 2004.

* Federation for American Immigration Reform 0% in 2005.

* 2005 AFL-CIO 92%.

So just what are those ideas Mike finds "solid," and where is the proof of Obama's moderation? Come on Mike - have an extra cup of coffee and check the record to stave off recurrences of early morning bouts of Obamamania.

Moderates are too extreme for me.

"I listen to Mike's radio show sometimes...and he is one of these people that just make sense...conservative talk show host...you nod your head in agreement with him...

But, then, just out of the blue, he will take a position on a topic that is way out of left field...and I do mean LEFT. "

Mike Gallagher comes up with things that are so stupid and shallow sometimes, I can barely stand to listen to him.

I have listened to this guy on the radio, he is an uneducated bore.

Most boring radio show in history. Gallagher is a doofus.

Six words I am absolutely sick of hearing: Michael Richards, Britany Spears, Barack Obama>

Maybe he's not terribly smart?

i wish the Democrats would nominate Obama. He'd spent Fall 2008 explaining he's not related to Osama.

Gallagher should go back to slamming watermelons with a sludge hammer.

Ted Kennedy thinks the junior senator from Illinois is Osama Obama. I heard him refer to him as such.

Could very well be a poorly crafted position on his part.....

I've never listened to him so my observations of his behavior are limited......

"Gallagher should go back to slamming watermelons with a sludge hammer."

I'd rather see him try smashing anvils with his head. I live in the area where he started in radio...this is nothing new. He's always been a no talent media whore.

Barak Hussein Obama

No silly name games, please. It was tired when the libs did it with Newt in 94.

There are many substantive reasons to oppose candidate Obama. Picking on his given name is not only childish, but worse yet it makes it look like we don't have anything else in our arsenal.

You haven't missed a lot. I'll agree with the other posters in this thread who find Mike somewhat boring. His heart usually seems to be in the right place, but a penetrating analyst he ain't. IMHO, Salem Radio would do themselves a big favor by replacing him with Steve Malzberg.

I receive these kind of comments frequently. Gallagher was given a good-sized platform on Fox News Channel. And while I don't listen to his show, he is on the air in many markets around the country. So I'd say he is a relatively significant opinion-shaper.

Remember that to the media, "moderate" means halfway between Dennis Kucinich and Dennis Hastert. ;)

I'd agree regarding the MSM - but surely Mike doesn't see himself as MSM but as a solid conservative commentator.

"Picking on his given name is not only childish,"

Well, the Democrats made a big deal about George FELIX Allen in an election not that long ago. Osama Obama is against fighting Revolutionary Islam, so the nickname is appropriate.

I watched him "debate" some girl a couple months ago who was lying through her teeth. He sat there with the dumbest look on his face and didn't even challenge her. The expression was priceless as was my screaming at him to open his mouth. He is useless for our side.
