Islamic militancy.
"Ancient and Early Medieval Historical Charaters" | 1986 | John Van Gorden

Islamic militancy arose from Mohammed’s new belief – actual or assumed – that conversion did not necessarily require a deep, sincere change in conviction on the part of the individual that it could be – and, if necessary, should be – forced by any means of coercion available. Many so-called Christian leaders, including members of the clergy, have triad to coerce conversion through the use or threat of force, but Christian doctrine has always held that the true conversion requires a sincere change of hart by the individual. Mohammed, however, advocated conversion by the sword and slaughter of those who refused conversion as basic Islamic dogma. To reinforce this, , he asserted that all who died in a jihad or holy war against those who were not Moslems would attain instant salvation, have all of their past sins forgiven and be immediately sped to paradise, where all of their sensual appetites would be gratified throughout eternity. This last part of Islamic doctrine caused Moslem armies to fight with a desperation and fanaticism that threatened to sweep everything before them. Fear, timidity, self-doubts and many other human failings disappeared from the armies composed of Islam’s true believers. So too did many more positive attribute... No moral restraints applied in war against enemies of Islam and, even if they did, death in battle for Islam would expiate all sins, all deceit, and all inhumane savagery. It also expiates all errors of judgment and blunders on the part of army commanders, thereby giving Moslem generals a boldness that their enemies often lacked. Fearing no vengeance that their enemies could exact, they fought without restraint for the total destruction of the enemy armies and nations.

Name those many. It has NEVER been the policy of the church or members of the clergy. It was however, the policy of various Roman emperors at times, just as it was the policy of other Roman emperors to slaughter all Christians. Emperor Constantine was the final emperor that put an end to the Christian slaughter and instead adopted it because he realized that the church provided stability the empire desperatly needed.

I posted a quoted passage from the John Gorden's book. You are right, that was no many instances of using coercion to Christianize. However, some events happened in WWII when some Jews were forced to become Catholics or earlier in Eastern Orthodox Church when catholics were forced to become orthodoxes.

It's those darn crosses under the fingernails torture again,...and when will those darn Christians quit flying airplanes into skyscrapers? Every anti-abortion fanatic is a Christian extremist offered in parallel to Islamo-Fascist extremists. And the Spanish inquisition gives us Christian extremists to last an eternity. And there they were, the newly converted Moslem hordes (believers), minding their own business, when the Christian Crusaders (infidels) came in to town and started slaughtering poor innocent believers.

The darn Judaeo-Christians keep giving in to the PC crowd, like the ACLU and CAIR, who order them to rein in Christmas and the like. Separation between Church and State. Wait until they deal with Islamists, who won't budge an inch on PC behavior. The PC heads will start to roll, literally.

During a recent trip to Romania, I learned that Dracula (the real one, not the myth) continuously fought against the invading muslims from Turkey during the mid-1300's. He managed to dissuade one muslim army from fighting by lining the road they were marching on with thousands of their impaled countrymen. The muslims were so frightened by the scene of so many dead rotting muslim soldiers, they turned around and left without attacking. I suppose this was a case of their willingness to die being a little weaker than their desire to not end up impaled on a pole.
