Re the Rummy quote: "This President is almost a victim of the success he has had with preventing another attack on America."

I heard him say that yesterday on talk radio. I think it was on the Michael Medved show, although Rummy probably has repeated it more than once. He is not the first person to say that, although perhaps he is the most prominent person to do so. It is a spot-on accurate assessment.

Think back to the Clinton years and recall how many surrogates he had to carry his message all over TV, editorial pages, conferences, and other public communications avenues. Contrast that public relations effort with the Bush years. With the exception of talk radio, President Bush has had few surrogates out there speaking on his behalf throughout his entire term, while the Left has continued to have free reign to spread its message across all forms of media. Even talk radio turned -- viciously I might add -- against President Bush in 2005, as many in that medium were busy trashing him to try to show what independent thinkers they were.

Heck, even people who had been in his administration and 41's, fell all over themselves to criticize him -- while saying they really weren't, of course. (Baker and Powell, are you listening?)

So it's good to hear someone of Rummy's stature saying that on talk radio.
