In the 1890 Census, one generation after slavery, 80 percent of black households were mom, dad and kids. It stayed that way through the 1950s, when the census counted 77 percent of black families as united, compared to 85 percent of white families. This was remarkable, as the black family had been through slavery, the upheaval of emancipation, the segregation of Jim Crow. The black family survived the Great Migration, when millions of impoverished Southern blacks made the journey to Northern urban centers, often dividing families.

By the early 1970s, historians and sociologists say, the sexual revolution and shifting mores changed American views on marriage and child-rearing

Walter Williams writes about this all the time...as recently as the 1950's, many urban predominantly black high schools were top notch...black families were often poor...but strong...thus black communities were strong

Then Great Society federal government socialism invaded the cities...and tore apart black families. Nat Turner is right...this is the socialist future for us all...regardless of race...my wife is from Manchester England...where very few of her friends still there are married to the fathers of their children.

"Tempered with the African heritage"? Are you saying all this degeneracy is a remnant of slavery? Try again. Read up on the demise of the black family; it coincides with the greatest "civil rights" era of the century.

I noticed the cycle in the story, both parents had absentee fathers and were raised by single mothers. both were probably tossed around from home to home were ever there was an adult to take care of them so thier mothers could work or whatever. It is sad, very sad, I hope Zeyhir can grow up and somehow escape from that cycle and as another Freeper posted maybe even become another "Condolezza Rice" (Well, a male version)

"Then Great Society federal government socialism invaded the cities...and tore apart black families."

There's more to it than that. The shunning of traditional American Culture (reviled by liberals as "racist white culture") is really what did them in.

Thi is just another example of how America can be viewed pre-and post "hippie".

If he has time to watch sit-coms at his "job", he has time to study there. A motivated person with a good home-study course can complete a basic high school education in something like nine months (to diploma standards, not GED standards). Perhaps, now that his friend has told him about an opening at Target, he should go ask for a job. If he's making $8, and she's making $8, and they get married and share one room of either mom's apartment, they'd be pulling in $16 an hour, and might have an actual shot at making it.

I do NOT understand girls aiming so low. "Friends" don't make babies together. Friends go to a movie, or grab a hamburger, or help one another study. I know it's not just the black community with this problem. It's going to take a generation of young men and women decided that total abstinence before marriage, and absolute fidelity after marriage, is the ONLY option, before the decay of the family is slowed.

Unpleasant side effects have been noted with Zyhir including diarrhea, vomiting, inability to party, lack of money, and pulling out of hair. Always be sure to have a steady source of income before taking Zyhir. Zyhir may not be for you if you're a skanked-out ghetto ho or a chronically underemployed baby daddy.

"Zyhir, now FDA approved without a prescription ..."

Possible side effects include crack addiction, illiteracy, and the uncontrollable urge to carjack some bitches from dae (they, short for their) ride and give 'em the gat.

Last year, I got involved in a ministry that prays at homicide sites, which were mostly in the city. One thing that I noticed in alot of the neighborhoods were the number of young men, just hanging out in the middle of the day, not working. My wife sees the same thing at the supermarket she works at. Alot of the young men who shop there pay with food stamps. These are able-bodied young men who should be working. How many of these same young men are fathering children? What sort of example are they setting for their children? This is one of the root causes for the problems we are having in our cities, including Rochester, NY.

The whole article basically soft-pedals the entire situation. It is more serious and MORE institutionalized than protrayed.

As an example; it isn't just cool for a black man to sire children with different women, it's considered the ultimate sellout to NOT do so, since "you ain't keepin' it real." In other words, courting and marrying a woman of high-esteem, raising an upstanding family that isn't a drain on society and supports it's self is "being like whitey" ands is to be avoided at all costs. At least that's the way it seems to me.

The solution isn't that severe, actually. Total abstinence before marriage isn't required---using adequate birth control before marriage is. Between the extremes of barebacking it and celibacy there is a happy medium.

Only took him a decade or so to figure out that he might want at least a high school education . . .

I think it's really the result of not being responsible for one's actions. There is little guidance and little self-discipline these days. Also, it is taught that sex is purely an animal-like function. We have been lowered from human beings to only animals.

So you see, by placing children either in situations where homosexuals adopt them or they are raised by "married" gays, you are subjecting them to a form of institutionalized, politically driven child abuse and setting them up for failure.

And ecouraging the welfare state does exactly WHAT?

I agree with Zarf.......from my experience your list of problems in a "homosexual household" are far more common in the single mother welfare lifestyle household.

Half the kids in DC are being raised by their Grandmothers while Momma is out breeding more. Where is Grandma?
