As much as I hate to recommend PBS productions...
I HIGHLY recommend the following offering:
Auschwitz: Inside The Nazi State
http://www.pbs.org/auschwitz/
http://www.shoppbs.org/product/index.jsp?productId=1915639&cp&keywords=Auschwitz&y=2&searchId=18904821861&x=25&parentPage=search
It was a well-done production, with interweaving of excellent time-period
re-enactments and interviews with survivors.
About the only negative are some guests of the discussion panels and
the moderator Linda Ellerbee.
Also, if you see the show, don't have a heart attack about the former SS
guard Oskar Gruning. He's a disgusting piece of work, but watch the whole
show before passing final judgement.
I saw that special, it was well done. It offered some interesting insights into the behind the scenes affairs that went on there and included historical records and such ,, I agree that they could have done without the panel,,
